What would you do if you had 1 week until major show and your heifer looked like she had mange?  She got lice really bad after our county show and scratched and scratched.  This is also the students senior year and this would be the last major show to take her too.  On one hand i want to say so what just go have fun but I don't want her to be embarrassed either.  The AG teacher is not really any help.

Would we be able to spray paint her skin to match her hair?  Should we slick her and hope for the best?

Thanks

That’s no fun, but lice does happen, and sometimes really fast!! A picture would help us understand how bad it is. I’d clip her (don’t slick her) and paint the patches at home so you know exactly how it’ll look at the show. It’s great that you want to help the student decide but at the end of the day it’s probably best to leave it up to her so she can be content with her decision. Good luck!!

Make sure you've dosed her with some Cydectin, Ivomec, or one of the equivalents.

Solid advice!  People used to make fun of us, but we poured our show steers as we were loading them on the trailer headed home after every single show we went to.  It is cheap, and it is overkill...but we never had lice problems.  They get it at the shows guys, it doesn't just pop up out of the blue.
