Hello all.

I am just wondering if anyone has any calves out of the bull, and if so what did y'all like about them and what where some of their faults? I'm curious due to the lack of calving reports.

Thanks in advance.

Friend of mine had one two days ago. This may be one of his first calves. Says was a bull calf that was really good. Big boned, hairy, and stout. A touch of chrome on him as well. I should have 2 maternal perfection calves next month so I will post a report on them.

Gargan, can you get me an estimated BW from your friend and let me know BW's on yours? You can PM them to me.

reviving this to see what he is clicking with best

i have an 1-80 x emerald lady going to breed for her second calf and was considering him. shes larger framed with good neck extension and a super smooth shoulder but wouldn't hurt to add some depth of body and not lose any bone (maybe add some). trying to make a heifer

We showed a Maternal Perfection heifer last year and then sold her as a bred at the Black Hills Stock Show in February. I can't speak to what kind of cow she came out of, but she calved unassisted a week ago to Slider and is an excellent mother.

We posted ours in another thread.  She is out of a Who Da Man x Kadabra and is not a very powerful cow.  Lots of body, but not much power, has great extension, clean up front, but could use more chest floor and a little harder doing.  Maternal Perfection clicked great.  The heifer has power to burn, added chest floor, bone, and kept great hair.  She was a little later maturing, but was over 1200 as a yearling.  She came easy as a calf and was 80 lbs, got right up and nursed.  She has bred the first time and is due to calve the 8th of April to Uno Mas.  Flushing her mom to Unstoppable and probably Maternal Perfection (sexed).  He does add a little shoulder to them, but it's not bad.  The cow is a little nutty, but the heifer is not bad and is easy to work with and was shown a little last year.

I'd use him again in a heart beat, especially on a harder doing larger framed cow.  He moderated frame a little, but they are not short.

I have had a few calves out of him, the last 2 year. I never got any females, but all the bull calves I got, were right in the mid 80's for BW.  I bred him to sim cross cows in hope of getting replacements.  The calves were all built the same, decent power and good style, some had good hair some didn't.  The one thing I did notice is he doesn't really down size frame, all 4 I have had ended up being the same frame as the dam as a yearling.  They all fed good as steers and had really good growth, with WW being around 750-850 and YW being between 1050-1150.
