I have a high percentage simmy cow I'm wanting to flush soon.  Goal is for making replacement females to then go back with clubby.  I'm very picky on structure.  The cow could stand to be wider based on rear legs.  Want something with a lot of growth epd's and excellent milk ability.  I'd like to find a bull that's proven maternal in his offspring.  So any one in the simmy and Maine business I'd love to know what works for y'all.  I have seen some good pb and half blood stuff in griswalds but haven't tried any yet.  Am open to other breeders as well.    Thanks. I'll try to post pic of cow if I can.

You can check a week and a half ago (probably end of this page or page 2)the thread about which maines to breed to  Angus, they were looking for the same deal-and the ones listed are definitely good choices:if not the best available. As far as Simm-one of the most influential Maine breeders I know Of -Mark Mueller Diamond M Cattle Co.-on show steers .com- Is a part or full etc. owner of several Black Blaze doners, and they have a Simm bull for only $250 per straw-I would bet he'd get the job done-I would prefer one of the good I-80s personally in terms of cleaning up her leather if there is any, and structural soundness-thier bull would sure power up one though-and certainly stems from one of the greatest Simm cows.O0

What has this cow done for you in the past and with what kinds of bulls? I understand that you probably haven't bred this cow with clubbies in mind until now.  Just curious as to what she has worked with in the past. Have you kept any daughters?

I have only been able to is her once.  That was to hairy bear and I did keep her.  She had done well for is when bred clubby.  She just needs more base with.  Anything like hairy bear but more stoutness and base with would work as well.

i think you are trying too much. go look at some more females, maybe buy a couple or three with the money you would use on flushing.

try someone like kris black.

when you say you want something maternal and growth and structure and base width, that is a lot to ask for in one go round.

i would say to do that i would buy what you want rather than trying to create it.

I think buying good embryos from established program is another way to go.
