Does anyone know about how much Matt Launtners club calves range to in price?  About how much do people pay for them every year?

$2,500 to $25,000.  He is really no different than any other trader.  You can buy anything from a County Fair steer, all the way up.

I have always wondered what kind of prices these guys offer when they do farm visits. Do they very in a wide price range or do they have a base price they stick to.

They pay what it takes to get them bought. They know what the market is and they know that someone was there before them and someone is coming after they leave.

Where they make up ground is volume. They can buy 5 calves to get the one they REALLY want.

How do you get them to come out to visit?

Text Matt a couple pictures.

Tell him what they are out of.

Watch his blog. He posts where he is doing farm visits.

You can also call a Lautner semen rep in your area.

This is important as it will show them if it is (or isn't) the quality of calf they are looking for. Have to be careful with your reputation, you don't want to make someone drive who knows how many miles and not have the caliber they deal with (not saying you don't by any means).

I have sold Matt several calves and He prefers calves from bulls he promotes. One thing Matt does differently is he does not forget who raised them and I appreciate that.Service after the sale is common anymore and most producers like myself are either too old or not good enough or too busy to offer what the younger generation can.I want who ever buys calves from me to make a profit or have success so I can continue to raise them. With feeder cattle bring record prices the $1500 steer that can win a county fair will be harder to find.

How do you get in touch with Matt or any of the other big named buyers. I have a really nice Irish Whiskey bull calf, that at least looks the part. I don't have the name or the market to sell him. If any one has contact information i would appreciate it.

Find the owner of the bull and sell it through him, I doubt breeders will be interested in a calf not sired by one of their bulls unless it's damn good and damn cheap.
