I was wondering if more people than me, would like to see the owners of promotional sires post or advertise mature pictures of their bulls. While I don't think pictures can tell the entire story, it would be a great help to people like me. I don't have the time, nor is it possible for me to travel to the various collection centers to see these bulls in person. I have a lot of respect for the owners that post mature photos of their bulls. I have also found the pictures posted on this site to be more influential in my semen buying decisions than most  other factors.

I look at these new sire catalogs, and they all seem to run togather anymore. 4 inch long hair and doctored pictures seem to be what I am seeing. I am not trying to degrade bull pictures or those who take them, its just that a picture of a bull in the pasture or at stud tells a lot more about him in my opionion. For example, I never really liked Walks Alone (based on picture), until I saw his picture at stud on the message board the other day. Now I am ordering some to try.

What are your thoughts on why we don't see more of this? Is their a site or something that you can find more of these pictures?

Most of the time you never see them because they will never look as good as those Denver Pics of them. Just like a good pic can sell thousands of straws, one bad pic can be the end of those sales. When you compair them at a young age you never know how they will grow. Just like EPDs you see some bulls that weigh in at 700-800 lbs at 265 days then at 2 years one May be a 1800 lb and done and the other might be 2500lbs and counting. Even getting mature pics you cant tell everything to a bull. Best way is to find someone you trust that has seen the bulls and what they reccomend if you can't see them yourself. With me anymore I dont hardly ever buy semen unless I trust the owners or I see the bull for myself. Its just like judging, one persons favorite is completely different from anothers favorite.

that is the nature of the game.

If you are patient, the calf crops will tell all.
