Melatonin pills for hair growth.

I'm looking at feeding Melatonin for hair growth so I did a google search on it but didn't find as much info as I was hoping. I was just wondering what the side affects are, how beneficial it is, how much you feed & how long would you feed it to a steer. Have you had any negative expiriences with it? Also, how do they get the melatonin, because if they get it from cattle, wouldn't it be illegal to feed it after BSE? I know that's a lot of questions, but any info will help.

IMO once you start feeding it or implanting you have to keep doing it until you stop showing or needing the hair. Once all of the melatonin goes through the system the calves start slugging the hair. Could be a freak deal but that's my two cents
