I ended up with this Meyer 734 x Ambush halfblood cow and im thinking of flushing her. Definitely want to use either a purbred simmy or a halblood simmy bull. Im looking for maternal daughters out of the deal mainly for myself. Cows mother is Thomas Lucy 6018 which im not real familiar with. Any suggestions would be great ???

If you're interested in a good baldy purebred, check out PRS Blazin' Hot with Cattle Visions. He's a Welshs Dew It Right son and his first calves are on the ground now. He's a high API bull and the calves are good doing and growthy with plenty of style. He's not a clubby bull...he'll make good, sound production type cattle. Homozygous black and homozygous polled. The Upgrades are thick if you can stand the milk EPD...if you're wanting to make females, that wouldn't make a lot of sense to me. His sire, though, "Olie" makes nice daughters, and he works really well on Angus and Angus x Simmie cross cows.

Pays to Dream would work, or maybe Amigo. If I were you, I'd watch out breeding her to a baldie because you may get more white than you want with her being a Meyer.

The too much white deal is also a concern but with her being a halfblood angus with just that little white star on her head I think ill be okay , I hope ! Would it be a bad idea to go Built Right or Steel Force or am I crazy ???

Hate to burst your bubble but if her sire is Meyer 734 then she does have a copy of the spotting gene.

Id go built right i think that maiting is very interesting.  A maiting we have really really good success with is maiting our h1/2 blood meyer or meyer influnced cows to SOS for double 1/2s.  Give that a thought.

LN- I'm plenty familiar with Meyer and the amount of white he can generate but I still think there's a good chance with her not throwing too much , hopefully. Thanks for all the replys

Matt, when I had talked to you the other day about the Simmental semen I had, I said I had some Fat Butt and Upgrade semen. I forgot to mention that I have some Built Right semen also and will have a 1/2 blood simmi calf this spring as I bred a clubby cow (Heat Wave) to Built Right and she is due March 30th. But I love Built Right cows and I think he would be a good match up as he has good CE and MCE and is just a little below average on the milking. As far as Upgrade goes, I would judge that on how good of a milker the cow is to judge to see it would not hurt to loose any with using Upgrade. I am going to use Upgrade on that Vision cow as the calf could loose some milking ability and be fine as the cow is a heavy milker and then Upgrade adds alot of style. I have heard alot of goods things about 734 crossing with Dream On genetics, So I like Built Right. But I am new into the simmi breed, just going off seeing other breeders calves.

Thanks Big M , you won't have any trouble with milk on that Vision cow , regardless of the numbers game ! I'm really leaning towards Built Right or Upgrade on this girl.

Matt, Upgrade and hey maybe if you would want to I'd be willing to split the flush or something. I got an awesome ET vet that's awesome after she drops that whale of a calf she has in her! And steerplanet people  Big M and Atlsimmy 79 are good people. Love talking to both of you guys!
