What does every one think of the bull. Do you think he would be good on angus.

I know they sold some through a sale a couple weeks ago, you can call the owners and see if they have more they want to sell

Our first Climax babies are due today!

Have you had any Amazon calves yet? Please let us know what they are like when they start coming. I am hoping to get out and take a look @ Climax next week and would value your assessment of the 2 bull's calves. Brent

Anybody know if there is sexed semen and price

They did sell a few units of the sexed semen at the Royal Edge sale and it was expensive.  I think it averaged around $700/unit.  No more will be sold this year.

The amazon babies we have so far are really nice, really long, shag haired and get stouter and better everyday.

Still waiting on climax babies

stangs 13 there are a number of semen companies selling sexed semen, genex and ABS are a couple but they are on limited calving ease bulls (it should only be used on heifers due to the lower concentrtion)  You can contact the owners of some of the bulls you are interested in.  we have bought an entire jump from a bull and had it sorted.  But the owner has to be willing to take him to a stud who has the technology available.  Also if you contact the owner and let them know that you would be interested in sexed semen They may take the next step and have some collected, there is just a huge investment associated in getting it done and if you aren't sure you can sell it for a premium some may shy away from collecting it.  Also just another note the semen is either frozen in 2ml conc or 5ml conc you will need 3 units of the 5 mil to flush with, but the 2 mil stuff works great for breeding heifers.

The babies look really nice, pretty hard to tell much at 20 days old, but in comparison to Meyer and Maximus on the same cow.... the Climax's are the best necked, better haired than the Meyer's, but not quite as hairy as the Maximus'. (Maximus' are REALLY shaggy)    Climax babies are bigger boned than the Meyer's, about the same bone as Maximus calves.  Body type wise the Climax's have the most muscle and middle.  Running about 80% baldies on solid black cows.  Will try to answer any questions you may have.

Thanks,

Willie Morris

Thanks for piping in Willie. Are you guys planning on producing anymore sexed semen in the near future, and if so do you have a price in mind? Brent

(welcome) Willie!

How are the Mamma's Boy's calves coming along? What type of BW's are we looking at?

Hi again,

To answer your questions....
1) As far as sexed Climax semen, we will not be offering anymore for sale until the Royal Edge sale next January.  For those not farmiliar with the sexing process, it runs about 5-10% of your total conventional collection.  (For instance: 100 straws of conventional will yield 5-10 units of sexed semen).  For a bull that produces an astrological amount of semen and catches up on conventional quickly, it makes sense.  In Climax's case, we are in the 1st full year of selling his semen and are trying to stockpile as much as possible.  We collected Maximus for almost a year straight the sexed route and we suddenly lost him in April.  Don't want that to happen again!

2) Red-  Mama's Boy calves were much anticipated this past spring.  The expectations were more than met and we were pleased to have him prove himself as a calving ease sire.  BW between 65-80#.  Have yet to hear of a calf being pulled.  The bull is really proving to work on many types, from angus to simi based, maine based and maybe his best cross is on those clubby bred cows and heifers.  Many baldies with great style!

Hope I've answered your questions.

Thank you
