I have a 5 yr old son and a 7 yr old daughter.  Both have expressed interest in showing.  My wife seems to like the idea of starting them with Mini Herefords instead of our Simmental and SimX calves.

I know NOTHING about mini cattle.  Any thoughts, suggestions are welcome.

We just bought our first mini steer for my 3 year old. Hes soon to be 4. Our calf is puppy dog tame and currently weighs maybe 200 lbs. We love going out and messing with him. We have big cattle to but I feel much better having my son feed this calf on his own than our others. The popularity right now is really climbing as well. Jr nationals will be in Iowa this summer. We have also really enjoyed the people we have met so far that are into the breed. If you have any other questions pm me. I can get you in touch with several breeders. We are learning as we go as well. I will say they are considerably cheaper to feed as well.
