Hey all!
Just arrived home from NCC, only to find a show heifer from last year calved!! Papered ChiAngus, shes a Stepaside (WMW) out of a TC Angus cow and calf is a Money Man.  My question is, how do the Money Man calves grow? Do they start off a bit 'average' then only get better with time? Do the good ones always just come out as 'wow'ers', so to say?  What have your experiences with them been like? Any input would be GREATLY appreciated (thumbsup)
Thanks in advance!

the 3 moneyman's i had followed the cow.  i used him to downsize and one i have, she's probably going to be the tallest of 3 heifers i have left.  for me, they had nice profiles but didn't add any depth or power.

Hope that heifer does well for you.... if you don't like the calf maybe you should return the heifer to the breeder  ;D
good luck with her and your new little bull calf. how much did he weigh?

Well, the cow isn't the biggest framed thing I own, for sure lol. But she IS very pretty on the profile.  Calf was born 82# UA of course.  Again, any more input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

The ones i saw last spring just didn't have much mass to them. Light bone and finer made. They were just okay or average calves. I didn't see them as yearlings so I do'nt know how they turned out.

I have several MMM heifers and first calve heifers - can't tell you how they are as mothers but I like the calves - they do tend to resemble their dam but IMHO perhaps are prettier. As many of you recall I (and several others) had calves sired by MMM with spastic paresis, so although I have used him on the dam of the heifer pictured I have studied and played with pedigrees to not stack up certain lines

Mine were all small and not my favorites at first, but wow they took off.  With the looks of your calf, I wouldn't be disappointed a  bit.  At the 2009 Iowa beef expo both Champion and reserve champion bulls were Money mans.  We had reserve and here's a picture of him.  He had enough mass to him (he was a March calf) to win Champion bull at the MO state fair as a calf. Its not a small show either, we have the numbers just like Iowa and probably have a few more bulls than they do (Maine Anjou wise)

Gidget- Mucho is a very special boy.  We bought Money Man semen because of him. We plan on using him on our Hi% maine heifer this year. She is monster boned, lots of hair, and very thick. I think they'll mesh well.

Here is a pic of a MMM bull we are going to show.  He is out of a white purebred shorthorn cow.  He is Shorthorn Plus and Maintainer.  We like him a lot.  Also bred a shorthorn heifer to MMM that we sold on here a year or so ago and the buyer was offered $5K for the heifer calf that she had.  I am a fan of MMM at this point.  Have some semen in the tank now.

Justme, Ruebush-- those are two sweet bulls! Both very nice in their own right.

Mark- Thanks, no more Money Mans, but I do have a short X angus thats got some chrome and is kind of a looker. His 1/2 sister (out of same cow of course) was my prospect heifer last summer, she's turning out with kind of a neat clubby look to her.

As far as the calf goes, thanks for all the complements, comment, posts and help from all! We'll have to see how he turns out this spring/summer! <beer>
