What types of cows is Monopoly Money working on? Does anyone have any good calves on the ground? We think Monopoly Money has more natural shape than his sire and we'd like to use him.

Monopoly money is a big framed bull himself contrary to his sire. Would say a frame score 6 or 7. But has great muscle shape, and fairly sound

Will he add depth to the average female? Also is there a video on him?

Thank you for the replies.  I had heard that a Monopoly Money steer won in Denver.  Can anyone clarify that?

Our last Monopoly Money at one week of age and again at 5 months.  He was out of a pure bred Dream On and actually framed her down a notch.  He was deep sided but that may be his mama's doing.  Correct, thick, hairy, and that sucker had some serious grow to him.

Like someone else said, if I read it correctly, I like his body shape and style better than most of the Heat Wave and Monopoly sons out there.  I have a frame score 7 PB Angus heifer (due to calf to Jesse James this year).  She is deep, has the rib shape, a great top, turn to her hip and good hock.  Too straight for the Angus breeders.  But she lacks width.  How might he work on a cow like that?

Think that calf would be way big

I don't want to end up with a frame score 5.5 bull, steer or heifer, though.  Think Daddy of Em All is too big fronted.  One option I had thought of was a Heat Wave Clone.  Worry about calving issues since she isn't a wider based heifer.  Or I use I Da Man....sorry got off topic.

For those of you who have extensively bred clubby cattle how old does a cow <1400 lbs need to be to have a clubby calf?

We had Monopoly Money leased when he was 18-20 months old.  At that time, he was nowhere close to a frame score 7, pretty sure he was not even a 6.  To be a 7 he'd have to have been right at 57" tall when they picked him up, 55" to be a 6.  I'd have said he was 53" - 54" tall.  I know they can grow in phases and don't always stay in the same place on the chart, but I can't believe he had it in him to get 57" tall - maybe 55".

The calves we got weren't any bigger framed than their mothers.  In fact the one heifer we still have (out of a Red Chill x JPJ cow that is a solid 6 frame) is probably just a low 6.  The steers that I've kept up with are more like 5's, which would be about like their mothers as well.

I liked the bull, like the calves we got alright, but bottom line for us was that we sold several calves out of our own Monopoly son before the Monopoly Money's started getting picked...

BTW, I based my frame scores on this - http://www.steerplanet.com/frame-score-chart/
I know there are several different frame score charts out there.

So what you're saying, DLD is that he probably wouldn't throw too big a calf out of my angus heifer?  She was 54" at 18 months.  According to the table that you used and the one from the Angus Association, 53.4 is a 7 and 55.3 is an 8.  What i'd like to know is did he add any thickness to his offspring?  Or would I be better looking else where?  When you're breeding 3 cows a year you'd like to breed to get something somewhat marketable...

ACTUALLY, the Monopoly Money steer at Denver won Class 11, and Division 3 in the Cross Bred Division.

He was shown by Dwight Will's Grand Daughter.

We have a Mono Money steer this year, and I have a friend that raised several last season.  What I have noticed about these calves is that they seem to travel on a "roller coaster" in terms of how they look.  When they are little (3 months and under), they look fantastic.  Then they seem to look pretty rough for a few months, and up and down they go.

Our steer has finally leveled out once he hit about 750 pounds.

He seems to just get better every day.  He isn't the thickest steer in the world, but muscle definition is definitely there.  He has never been high flanked.  To me, he looks like he is going to get thicker and thicker as he gains weight.

Soundness is really good.

Our steer is not particularly big in terms of frame.  I would say he will be a middle class, middle division steer...possibly small class in the middle division.  (Classes and Divisions broken by Height)  He was out of a big, stout, tall cow.

I can't speak for all of the Monopoly Money steers, just the ones that I have been exposed to.

Based on my experience, I don't think you'd get too much grow out of him.  Size wouldn't worry me on that mating.  I'd say he added a little thickness - none of ours were what I'd call real heavy muscled.  I'd call them adequate, but I do like their shape - they carry their muscle down lower, and have a little more bone than a lot of clubbie bulls - better than average hair, too.  It results in a stouter look, to me anyway.  All of ours move quite well, but a couple of them are a little straighter in the hock when they stop than I really prefer, though their mom's are straight enough, too.  If you want to try him, I don't think you'll be disappointed with your calves.  I didn't lease a bull or AI much last fall, so I really haven't used him since.  Only one cow of ours had the best one she'd ever had out of him,  a little smaller framed, real pretty NFL grand daughter, and it looks like she slipped around and will calve this spring - I may try him on her again.

My thoughts are a lot like Tallcool1's, and just as he said, I can only speak for the handful I've been around.
