My father was a rep for Select Sires for over 30 years.
I have purchased his farm semen tanks and semen inventory.

I wrote down a few of the semen codes that were most common
or easiest to read.

I would appreciate help in identifying some
of the bulls.  I will be a taking a full inventory and will
make semen for sale should there be interest.

Angus. AN codes
287. Nine Iron
288 Tailer Made
301
76. OSU Game Plan
283 Rito 6656
123. Select Cap
65. Shearbrook Extra
422 GAR Prophecy
538
294 Peer Reviewed
230. Iroquois
246 Rito 2. 878
225 Mayer
1098

Simmental.  SM
275. Red Bear
7145
271  Spike
224 RV Graduate
282. Highwayman
7056

What is this?
M794

Thank you.

I have found most of these to be older
genetics and not worth a lot.  I know
there is still good bulls in there
I have not yet found.  There are probably
4000 units of all breeds yet to be identified.

I found a cane of Signal, an old Simmental
bull.  He used to be $1000/ unit I am told.

It will be fun looking through the list when inventory
is done.

Most of those angus bulls shouldn't be worth anything today, although rocking horse tailor made was a very good cow maker and should have some value to the right person today. Any shorthorn semen in there?

Thanks for the info.

He had a few customers that bred Shorthorn so maybe
there is a cane or two.

He never bred his own cows Shorthorn but dis breed
Angus, Simmental, Chianina, Maine, Blonde D'Aquitaine and maybe a Limousin.

Could be some old purebred Chi in the tank and misc bulls but he bred and kept Angus and Simmental.

I hope to get the tanks inventoried in next couple weeks so I can start
moving out the semen.

Even the old bulls have a little value to someone raising commercial cattle.  The bulls still are better than many cheap bulls guys are using.  I would think $2-5 per straw would
be a good buy as they would sire calves with some frame and growth. (ideal for a commercial
guy not chasing banners).  They win in the salebarn, not showing.

You have a variety on the Simmental - ABS, Select Sires and Curtis Breeding Service bulls - 7056 is Toni.  When you have more information on the Simmy bulls you are trying to identify, I will see what I can come up with for you
