Since I usually carry a camera in my vehicle when I'm doing pasture checks, I end up with a few hundred pictures every year.... none of which are professional by any means. I think they do give a person a reasonable idea of what they are like . I know some people on here complain about people who show pictures of their cattle on here, but to me, these pictures are some of the best threads I see on here. So, at the risk of being accused of self promoting our herd , here are a few pictures taken here in the last few day. Hope you enjoy them!

1) SBR Dora 228 - one of our donors. We are selling 4 embryos from 228 and Saskvalley Ramrod 155R in the All Star Classic in Lacombe, AB on Oct 22nd. We have already sold embryos from this flush to Scotland, England and to two US states and have a few put in ourselves. She produced 41 grade 1 embryos from Ramrod in two flushes to him. They don't make many cows easier fleshing that this cow ( and she has a shot of that dreaded Rodeo Drive in her pedigree!)
2) HC Lady Louisa 12T - a flushmate to HC FL Touchdown 123T. She is a moderate framed female but she has an amazing amount of body. We're selling a flush from her in the All Star Classic as well.
3)HC Melba Niam 61X - a bred heifer that is also consigned to the All Star Classic. She is sired by HC Leader's Legacy 9U  who is a Leader 21st son now working att Galbreath Farms, Enderlin, ND. Legacy has proven to be extremely easy calving and there is semen from him for sale in Canada and the US. This heifer is bred to HC Bar Code 16X ET.
4) HC Secret Maid 16Y - a March heifer by Major Leroy and from our Secret Maid cow family. She also is selling in the All Star Classic
5) HC Beth Juliette 43Y ET - a late March ET heifer that also sells in the All Star Classic. She is sired by Eionmor Mr Gus 80C and is from Winalot Beth Juliette 9K. There are full sibs to this heifer at Cyclone Trace in Iowa and at Alvie Estates in Scotland. One of the few 80C daughters to be offered as his semen is almost all gone.
I will attach a few more pics later .

It's probally just coincidence that all the pictures you just happened to take were of lots in a upcoming sale ;D. But when the cattle look like that I say self promote away!

here are a few more:
1) HC Cherry Mist 19Y -  her dam was 21 months old when this heifer was born and she is shown here 3 days after weaning. She calved unassisted and this heifer calf was 80 lbs at birth.  Her mom did an amazing good job of raising her and she did it by herself with no help from a creep feeder. 19Y is one of the first calves we had from Hillside Leader and we think she is pretty darn good. We are super impressed with our Hillside Leader calves this year. All are from heifers and all were born easily and had good growth after being born. We will have a good group of bull calves from Hillside Leader in the Sun Country test and sale, so anyone who says they can't find a good bull to use on their heifers should consider one of these calves.
2) SULL Salute's Choice - her full sister was Reserve Grand at the 2010 US Junior Nationals. Salute's Choice is a tank and we have already got embryo orders for her once she goes into production.
3) HC Sonny Sue 35Y ET - CYT Pure Power X Hall Haven Sonny Sue 6N. She was born March 20th. I think she is pretty sweet!
4) 46Y - born March 24th   BW 95 lbs. Sire : Touchdown   dam : a Salute daughter.  Raised on mom's milk, sunshine and grass
5) HC Picture Perfect 46X - a daughter of Major Leroy out of a full sister to Timeline. This heifer is very close to what we are wanting to produce in numbers. I'm really looking forward to her Bar Code calf next spring.

I say just keep on posting.

I like the cows and can only wish that my grass was that green.

Louisa 12t looks like a tank!

This picture is probably a bit deceiving as she is what I call a very moderately framed female, however, she has an amazing amount of body mass. I haven't measured her, but I doubt if she would make a 5.5 frame, but she has as much body as many 7+ frame cows. We are fortunate to have had great grass this year. We had record rains in late May and early June, then the tap shut off completely until a couple showers hit us last week that probably added up to 1 inch. My hometown has been getting rains regularly and has had about 8 inches in the last month and we never had a drop out of any of these rains.

And yet a few more:
1) HC Sparkle Delight 2X ET - a Saskvalley Pioneer 126P X Prairie Lane Sparkle 1K bred heifer.  She is a maternal sister to Major Leroy
2) 10Y- a Touchdown bull calf. BW 78 lbs. dam is a Jealousy Par 3 year old.
3) HC Cherry Mist 32Y - a full sister to the Pioneer bull that topped the 2010 Sun Country Bull Sale at $9000 to Charlie Obrecht and family, Harlan, IA. Her dam is by Major Leroy
4) a Star P Matrix April yearling. Her dam is by the Aussie Sprys True Blue Y033 ET and she is from the Raggedy Ann cow family
5) a Touchdown bred heifer. Her dam is a Sin City. Bred to Bar Code.

Please continue to post pictures on SP! It's the easiest way for us "newbies" to figure out what we like and what we don't like about a certain breed, bull, etc. There's no way we could make it to all these herds to take a look so this is the next best thing! Plus, I like looking at good cows.

Really like the 19Y and 32Y heifer calves. Good to see the pics as with us living soooooo far apart that seems like pictures are the only way to see them.
Who is the dam of 19Y??

19Y is out of a Mist's Return heifer named HC Cherry Mist 120W. She got bred early to Hillside Leader and I decided to leave her bred rather than abort her. I'm glad I did this, as she calved unassisted and raised a pretty good calf for her first attempt at being a mom. The dam of 120W is HC Cherry Mist 79T who is daughter of HC Merger 93M ET X. 79T has a full sister in the herd named HC Cherry Mist 79S that is almost identical in every way. If they were both to lose their ear tags at the same time, I may have to read their tattoos just to be sure I got them right.

I know what you mean about living so far apart!  I have been going to head over to your place several times in the past few weeks, but something always changed my plans. I will get there yet, I hope!
