This morning I have the two kids for a little while, not long enough Togo get anything done before I have to go to work, but long enough to sit and ponder......  This years calf crop turned out pretty well, considering we were left scrambling for bulls when our two main bulls did not test out last April.    We AIed our heifers to POWER 2Change and leased Deal Me In and a smokin joe son from Goddard to cover most of our cows and cleanup duty.    We have a few cool looking bull calves in the pasture, but our sire selection was based on producing a good crop of heifers and we did!    We have two P2C heifers out of heifers that I love!  One has been my favorite since she was born, backwards I might add.    But the other started as a tiny little 52 pound whisper and is turning into a deep bodied square hipped beauty that has the look of "tank of a cow in making".....

Been reading calf reports on here and others, trading pms asking questions.....    Going to use some rumor mill on the P2c and deal me in heifers next year.  Thinking about some all Aboard or master of puppets on a few cows.  More Stetson and deuce on the purebreds......

But for me the real exciting part is looking through the breeding book and thinking about what is coming in about five months.......  We have some purebred limis.  Have a heifer due to Stetson first week of jan, and an embryo by Stetson due the first week in feb, then the real fun starts around the first of march with another crop of P2c calves out of the heifers, non sexed this time, and our two new herd bulls.  Then a couple cows that are aied, including the one I am most eager for, our Stetson daughter that is a tank, bred to Deuce, a bull that is a very proven sire in the limi business for making them deep and thick and winning about everything.....  Doubling down on moderate framed thick and deep.    Can't wait to meet the little guy/girl, but then again, I can't wait to meet them all........

We only have the one Stetson daughter that stuck to him.  The other was the cow that we flushed, and after she didn't settle the first time we didn't want her any later so we put her in with the bull.  Have three that will get bred to him next year.

It is just fun thinking about all of the could bes and maybes and should bes!
