If he is a reg Chi, and documented to be 32% Maine, will the Maine Anjou Assoc count that in his progeny?

Example: I breed him to a Registered 50% Maine cow; the offspring is technically 41% Maine. Does the Maine Association only count the 25% from the registered dam? Thus making the offspring only registerable as 25% Maine?

With the rules that the Maine Anjou Association has, they only take the Maine Anjou percentage from animals registered with the Maine Anjou Association.  I just spoke with them posed your question to them.

So If the Chi bull was only registered with the Chi Association the the resulting calf when registered with the Maine Association would be listed as 25% Maine.

However, if the Chi bull was double registered, not just in the Chi Association but also registered in the Maine Anjou Association then his percentage of Maine could be used and the resulting calf when registered with the Maine Association would show as the 41% Maine.

This is one of the reasons for forming the Composite Beef Cattle Registry.  Accurate pedigrees, EPD's, LOWER cost for registrations are just some of the advantages.

She has a lot of milk!!  I was impressed, since I thought most clubby heifers did not produce much, her heifer calf may be the best one we have had.

I can try and get a pic.... she moves around when i'm in the pen w/ her... but won't budge an inch when her heifer calf is w/ her.  She has 6 functional...and 2 small ones @ the back and @ the top...  I had to really take a second look.
