I am a high school FFA Advisor and we are taking 52 students to National FFA Convention total. 26 from my school and 26 from a neighboring. Should be a good convention.

Yes it is the last year in Indy, then it heads back to Louisville for 2 years and then it's on a rotation of every 2 year between indy and Louisville

I'll be there with the Sure Champ booth! Come say hi to the blonde girl, would love to meet some of you. Plus, we are giving away a Sullivan stand up tack box, 5 sets of Andis clippers and a ton of Sure Champ.

I will be there! one last hurrah, competing in extemporaneous speaking cde.  one of the last times to zip up the national blue corduroy. I miss hanging out at all the contests a lot...on of the things I miss the worst about college :(

Yeah for that! I liked KY way more than Indy!!! I thought it was better when it rotated, since a student could get a chance to see both locations while in HS. I taught ag when it rotated, and had more fun. Now that I teach at the college level, I never get to go but live it through my daughter!!!

My oldest will be getting his American FFA degree.  We'll be making the trip, but won't get there 'til Friday.  Our chapter has a group going - besides Clay, we have two others getting their American FFA degree this year.

David,
That's great to hear!  It seems very few Instructors or Parents give enough encouragemnt and help these days for kids to care about the American degree.  Ours graduated from Latta, a chapter for over 60 years, and has had only 4 receive thier American FFA Degree.  Incredible to hear your Chapter has 3.

Thanks Dan.  We prob'ly average 1 American Degree a year here at Verden.  Clay's class was a really good one with 6 State Degree's, and 2 District Star candidates.  Some years just aren't as strong - naturally, the twins' class will be a really strong one too.  It's a good thing though, groups like that drive each other to succeed.

When I was in college lots of my friends went back to get their American Degrees. Being from Canada we didn't have FFA so the whole thing was very intriguing. Last year was my first time attending with the Sure Champ booth. The best way to describe it was a rock concert for agriculture youth. It is an extremely impressive event, and the talent of the kids is unbelievable. Does anyone have any livestock judging kids going. That is the CDE we are sponsoring.
