NC: Pictures of our Vacation, Canoeing the Niobrara River...

We took the kids on a vacation with close friends and their children down the scenic niobrara river in Neb. and thought I'd share a few pictures.

Cool!  Is it all smooth current or is there any whitewater?  I'm planning on taking a trip to the Hiwassee in SE Tennessee this summer.

There are some rapids, not nothing nasty but enough to get the kids excited.  Very cool river to go down.

That's so special.  How many miles were you in the canoe , Tony?

we went down it a couple years back as a family i recommend a tube, canoe's are too easy too tip and cause arguments (lol) 
we were out there nearly 8 hours and that was plenty long for me

Where does the Niabrara start? Does it come out of the mountains. Maria Sandoz mentions the river in alot of her books.

Honestly not sure where it starts.  Below is a regional map as well as well as a local map from the Valentine,Ne area.

Looks like the head waters start just outside Nebraska in Wyoming about 40 miles.
