I have an early March Unstoppable steer that is kind of messy in his front end. It's not horrible but I would like to try and sweat it off. My only problem is that I have no clue on what kind to get or how to use them. I plan to show him in early October but I am not sure if I should start to use one here soon or if I should just wait until later in the year. I will try to get a good picture of his front end the next time I get his head tied up but this is the only one that I have of him as of right now. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

We used one of the neoprene sweats from sullivan supply on our hereford heifer and it really helped her a lot. We put it on at night when we turned her out all summer. I was kind of afraid to leave it on her all day during the summer, don't know maybe it wouldn't hurt her but seemed kind of pointless to keep her inside in front of fans all day with misters running and then put a neck sweat on her to make her hot .

Leave on for 12 hours. Sullivans is good weaver leather also makes a good one. I would get started right away.

To me...that is not enough leather to even begin to worry about.

Get that dude broke, and tie his head in the rafters.  As long necked as he is, if you can keep his head up it isn't gonna be a problem at all.

The problem that I have with a neck sweat on a baby is what it does to his hair.  You are talking about jackpot shows, and you are going to need all the hair you can get!

He had really long hair for just being pulled out of the field but due to his ringworm the hair would cover it up where I couldn't find them all so he got his hair clipped short. But I feel like it will grow back fairly fast. He is pretty broke. He just doesnt like holding his head up. I will just wait and see how hee grow then. Thanks
