Nervous heifer

any body got any tips on how to get my heifer to calm down around new things? She acts good but when new people get around she gets really nervous. she is fine in the cooler with me and my family its just when someone new is there she gets worked up

I think she needs to get out and about.
Take  her for rides in the trailer, jack pots, anywhere the is new where you can tie her up or walk her around for a while.

We do three or four jackpots a year for that very reason. We have even take a calf we aren't going to show because they just need desensitized .By the time our county deal rolls around they are dead broke and don't mind screaming kids and city people.

We play a radio in the barn.  It helps them get used to different noises and voices.  Taking them to shows is of course the real deal, but, if she is really nervous I would do the radio before even going to the first show.

thanks. i was thinking of taking her to shows to calm her down too. i forgot to put that about the radio. i play one pretty good in the cooler over the fans and blowers

try feeding her melatonin.  we feed everything about 10 3mg pills morning and night for 3 days prior to shows.  works wonders!!

thanks everybody. thats another thing i forgot to  put. she is getting 30cc a day of grow and shine
