There are two new "versions" of Nuflor out - Nuflor Gold and Resflor Gold.  The way I read it, both contain the same dosage of florfenical that Nuflor did, but they have a different solvent that allows for longer term effectiveness.  Of most interest to me, the Resflor contains the same active ingredient also used in Banamine and is labelled for subcutaneous use (vs. IV for Banamine which has been of prevous great debate on here).  Withdrawal times for Nuflor Gold and Resflor Gold are a little over a month.

Big question - is the USDA/FDA going to relabel Banamine for subcutaneous use?

No, Banamine will remain the same-IV use only in cattle.  Just as you mentioned, Resflor Gold has a different carrier & slightly different formulation allowing it to be used sub Q.  Wow, finally, we've been looking for something like this for a long time.

This is what we have needed for a long time.  I just hope they have the levels adjusted to an amount that is effective on in both drugs.

I was also glad the carrier in Nuflor was changed.  The old carrier was too acidic.  You could see visually cattle cringe their necks after a shot.  The Nuflor Gold seems to have fixed that.  Cattle don't seem affected.  I was suprised differentlly on the labeling on Resflor.  Resflor contains Banamine, so why did they allow it to be applied anywhere except IV.  I visit packing plants and the visual damage to the neck muscle is easily visual.  Banamine destroys the muscle.  I am not saying its a bad drug.  I use it at the feedyard but only applied IV.

That's why the Resflor is labelled subcutaneous.  If you search on the internet, you can find some articles that talk about the decrease in muscle trauma from both the Nuflor and the Banamine by going subcutenous.  I guess nobody had ever tried to get approval for subcutaneous use before, who knows.  Maybe the different solvent is what allows that route to work.  I prefer subcutenous shots on anything I can anyway.

Wonder if some other drugs will follow suit in the future and keep moving toward everything being subcutaneous.

Check out on you tube & type in "Resflor Gold" . There is a cool video about doctoring a calf with Resflor. It's incredible how fast that stuff works.

Good question - should be a no brainer but it appears that the answer is no. Getting a drug relabeled as you might imagine involves jumping thru a bunch of hoops and reapplying to have it relabeled - it is fairly costly. One argument I have heard is that the carrier is different in the 2 drugs (ie the flunixin meglamine AKA Banamine has different properties because of the different formulation) so it isn't just a "quick change". There have been Banamine residue violations (primarily /exclusively in dairy cattle) which is part of the lack of interest in changing the label - FWIW - my take

Our vet had us try the Resflor gold on some of our babies that got a little down with all the up an down weather  this spring.  It is a super product!!  They went from a 104.5* temp and looking real tough to up nursing and running around, just like in the video.  No injection site swelling or trauma.  I really like the product.

I have used the Resflor twice in the last month and have had great results.  For me giving one shot is always better than two.
