Here are a couple pictures of two of our new bulls.  The first is a line bred improver from elbee farms and the second is a JPJ x Party gal from Studers.  We hope both prove to be easy calving.  Only time will tell.

I really like your bulls! Are you going to collect semen on them?

I would think for some of the "purist" out there that they sure wouldn't call him solid red. And for me I would rather have some roan in there to keep the red on red from turning into "orange". But then I also like having some horns in the pedigree to keep the sheath from looking like a Gerts' sheath.
Will, I do like the Improver bull.

I like em good color is secondary-horns are preferred-Never gorget the "purests" I met in Va with thier milk cow skin and bones Ayatollah Clementines- PURE Sh#$%%^&&**(T. The more knowledgable and picky they were: smugly picking apart Bradly Eismingers cattle (-which are very middle road conservative, and a good honest product)- THE WORSE THOSE SORRY HAYBURNERS WERE THAT I SAW at thier places as they expounded upon the glories and superiority of the ("pure?) dual lineage, and Ive never seen anything produced by them at all. Totally agree about horns and sheaths. Hey for the guy that wants a solid color this bull could be close enough in a elbee package - that's why I asked about roan on the other side.

Will- keep me posted, he looks very promising.

I think this is the pedigree. He's a very nice looking bull. Deerpark Improver 3rd influence is all through this pedigree.

Yes he is Elbee throwback.  With that picture you get to see all of the white he has.  We have waited and looked for a bull like him for a long time.  We drove a lot of miles to put togather this group of red bulls who have low birthwieghts.  We also have a TM Gus son that is red and looks really good.  He is a little younger and I should have a picture of him in a few days.  Our goal was to find a red bull with potential calving ease that still had a good look and acceptable performance.  We also wanted a bull from a great cow.  We will have semen available on all three bulls this spring.  We have not decided how we are going to market the semen but I will let everyone know.  That is not the best picture of Throw back but I could not get the others to down load because of their size.

We will breed him to a handful of heifers this spring naturally.  How he collects will determin how many cows get bred to him this spring. He is  masculine appearing and I would expect him to produce good semen at a young age.  He is an April so that might affect what we have available to sell this spring.  I know we have had a couple guys already request some semen and will be taking orders until we get him collected.  I am personally going to breed him to some clubby heifers and a hand full of Durham Red heifers.  That should gives us a good idea of calving ease on a very differant type of cows.

We just had Throwback and JB Gus collected this week.  We were able to collect each one one time and get 200 and 300 units.  The Gus bull had a 39cm scotal.  I thought that was pretty good for a long yearling that just came off cows.  Not to mention he just survived arguably the worst summer western Oklahoma has ever had.

So glad you bumped this post - I was trying to remember where that red and some white Elbee bull went? Are you expecting just spring calves by throwback or do you have some falls on the ground now?
What was his wt and scrotal measures after breeding?

They are two good looking bulls (thumbsup) I really like the looks of the Gus bull. Having 80C in his background really appeals to me as he leaves a practical good doing type with some eye appeal.

I did not weigh him and we did not get a scrotal measurement.  I do not remember for sure but I know he was barely over 1100 as a yearling.  He is heavier now than he was when we turned him out.  As far as his scrotal he is not as big as the Gus bull but he is quite sufficient.  We will get our first calve out of him the middle March.  We bred 10 heifers to him so we may have a little idea how easy calving he will be.
