This is my new PB simmental heifer. She is a Star Power out of KSSR Ashley cow that did a lot of winning, she is an ET calf. She has been on feed for about 4 weeks now. She is wet in these pictures and she doesnt have but a 1/2" of hair anyway so excuse that! I was going to wait till she had some feed in her and some hair, but hey why not. Tell me what you think.

Nice heifer, looks like she has plenty of muscle and she has a nice profile. I'd like to see a bit more body depth, but I think she'll grow into it.

Have you been showing her yet?

Nope she hasn't shown yet, we wanted to take her out on the 18th but something came up, but she will be out Aug 8th! She is very green and thats what will hurt her this early. We just started supplementing fat to her, so within a few weeks she should change!

My daughter probably has a flush mate.... Star Power and KSSR Ashley ... birth date for ours is January.  Brian is wonderful to work with.  (I assume she came from KSSR).  If you have questions about feeding, he is a good person to ask.  Good luck with your project.  We haven't posted pictures yet because with 100 degree heat  and only fans/ misters hair is not coming fast.  Ashley has good body depth so she should develop some as she gets more groceries.

Thanks for the info.  Mine already is a member.  Hopefully she will be participating in more events in the future with her new heifer.  Her first one was being bred during the activities this summer.  Love the breed and the people!!!

Glad to hear that! If you can, come to our state show next year. Your daughter will really benefit from the educational contests and all the great people she will meet.

Sure enough! Yeah, the guy that helps with the feeding and stuff is very good friends with Brian(they feed almost everything alike..almost) and thats how we found him, he raised a few of his calves back in the day. She is pounding down the feed and she will be ready to compete come state fair in october. You can see hair growing, its just slow. Misters will be set up soon with the already twice a day rinses, ice baths, and under fans all day long. Good luck to yall too...and i would love to see some pictures of her! What shows will you be going to?

I will look into joining!

Looks like she is a really functional female. I would like to see some more depth and hair(thats picky with this time of year though), but get some more guts in her, hair on her, and you'll have a competitor on your hands!!! I think by October she'll be able to hold her own pretty easy!! Good Luck!!!  (thumbsup)

No decent pictures yet, but we will try to get to that after lamb validation this weekend.  It will be interesting to see how these girls grow up.

She is good enough that I would not want to get her too fat, unless you want to resell her.  If she were mine I would be more concerned with her reproductive abilities and less concerned with her show ring look.  I really like her.

Get the rope halter on the right way and that will help both of you.

LOL just noticed that..whoops.

There is no use in having a heifer if she can't reproduce thats for sure. She isn't getting anything that would mess with her reproductive soundness, although there are supplements that we have used before that were recently brought to attention for causing fertility issues..but that was all settled down. She is good enough in our opinion that she doesnt need these supplements anyways.

Sorry it took so long.  This is our flushmate to your heifer (born 1-03-09)  Star Powerx KSSR Ashley.  These pictures were taken early August.  She is wet and upset because she hates new experiences.  Never posted pics here before so sorry if it is wrong.
