I got a catalog in the mail......Louisville. Shorthorn deal.....? Anyway.....it appeared there were no live animals being sold. Eggs, semen, flushes on and on. Is this the new norm? Is this across all breeds. in the Shorthorn deal I assume that pregnancies can't be analized for genetic defect status. In some ways this kinda sale would be easy to manage and set up. Any thoughts? I'm sure I will be accused of bashing Shorthorns so in advance 1111 you.

This is not the 1st year that Greenhorn has done this sale. More like the 4th or so. Before that Milestone did it. The night before Greenhorn's sale is a multi-breed embryo sale called Donors on Ice. There is one every year in Denver. These are not the only ones either.

You have the Svalbard Global Seed Vault that stores seed from every plant on earth(doomsday vault) on a Noregion island. Whys isn't there a deal for livestock? You could freeze embryo's semen and what not at say Alaska or Manhattan Ks or somewhere. You could store frozen embryo's of ever breed in the world?
