Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to show you all our new (old haha) gem we found. Eionmor Ideal 9N. We are hoping to get a few years out of him tops, if he tests well in the spring as well as draw some semen on him this fall. What are your thoughts on him? This picture was taken about a week ago.

Thanks!

Thanks TrevorGreyCattleCo! I'm not 100% sure if semen will be available for the USA, as of yet I'm only doing a collection for Canada, but if enough interest is there we could definitely look into it for you.

Knabe, you bet. That was the plan as he is getting older. Thanks for the suggestion though.  (thumbsup)

Xbar - Now that you mention it, he is fairly similar. Same color patterning and pretty similar build from the pictures I've seen of 86G.

I like his looks but what is his pedigree?  When I go to the ASA website and search,  there is nothing there.

Thank you AJ!

Idalee, he's actually a Canadian bull. If you click this link below that should take you to his pedigree. We are getting him blood DNA'd as his last hair DNA I wasn't fully convinced was correct. In my honest opinion, as well as the breeders, he is an Eionmor Ideal 69F son, not an Eionmor Chief 16H son. However I don't want to say for sure either way until the blood DNA is done - hopefully soon!  ;)

My guess goes with him being a Chief son-- who I happen to like better than 69F. Sorry lol.

He does look a lot more like Chief phenotype wise for sure. I just want to make 100% sure as the hair was really inconclusive. He could have apparently been by bulls that were A) younger than him, B) down in the states with no potential of them ever making it this far north to breed one lone cow haha. We just want to make sure 100% that the pedigree is correct if we are going to offer his genetics and start registering some progeny from him. I'll have to keep you all posted as to what the outcome is. :)

That being said another thing that would point to Chief being the sire, is the calving ease. As much as I truly appreciate the Ideal line for their overall muscling ability, some of them were a bit up there on BW's, but they did have a lot of good attributes about them as well. 9N has is super easy calving with  what we've found. The folks we acquired him from had roughly about 400 progeny and they can count on their hands how many times they have had to assist.

just to be clear, how many people make up the folks?

4 people have 40 fingers.

40/400*100= 10% assisted.

1 person. I believe they said they have had a total of 6 calves they have ever recorded pulling, if I am remembering correctly.

6/400*100= 1.5% assisted.
