I know we have a bunch of lowline Angus breeders on the site.  Your "market" for show heifers just received a big boost.  For those that don't know, the TCCA is our big show organization down here.

Could you expand a little on what's happening?

The TCCA is the organization that sanctions the vast majority of the prospect (meaning non-major) cattle shows in Texas.  You can read more about them at www.theshowbox.com.

They have designated breeds that most shows include in their formats.  They've added Lowlines to their list.

Most kids that show cattle in Texas (at least seriously) are members of the TCCA.

Some breed associations (Santa Gertrudis and the Star Five program) actually pay to have that done.  It creates more demand for show heifers than anything short of one of the majors recognizing the breed.

The state Simmental association needs to get over their lingering animosity toward certain people and do what Gerts did with Simangus.

May we see a lowline in your line up next year Jill. Texas is just a hop across Oklahoma.  Wonder if nebraska is considering.  I might have to eat crow.  Lol

That is what the Lowlines did as well.  In a  article in the Showbox or somewhere I think it even listed which breeder(s) paid the sponsorship.

I was feeling pretty good about the current direction of my ET program, but I'm feeling even better about it now.  ;D

I've been working on the current ALR Board (Neil Effertz, Trevor Smith, George Jenkins, Brian Walters & Rick Dodd) about doing whatever is necessary to try to increase our presence in the "JR heifer & steer show circuits", so I am glad to hear this news!  We've got a show coming up in Lebanon, TN, I think that there will be a display at the Washington County, MO Fair, & we are planning a few more shows this fall.  We will be back at the NAILE & will actually be having a sale at the NAILE this year too.

The Show Box may be gaining a new advertiser soon.  ;)

Probably told you this several times, but I laughed at the first Lowline display that I saw in Denver, back in the 90's.  A guy that helped us kept telling me that he saw some potential & I told him that he was nuts.  Now I am firmly on the other side of the fence.

Kanshow-No I won't be moving to TX although it would be nice to have several hundred shows in a year as opposed to 50.

farwest and TJ- I guess what I should have said is no we won't have one in the lineup, it's kind of like showing an Angus steer, you might win your breed, but you know you ain't got no chance of getting any further, final drive is just for sportsmanship.

Hey, Doc, I'm not TJ but the Lebanon show is Sat, May 16, at 2:00 pm.  At 10:30 am same day is a show clinic and following the show, there will be a sale of a small, select group of Lowlines.  You can see details at either www.twinoakscattlecompany.com, or at www.easternlowline.com

Doc, I hope that you can make it over!  I'll give you a heads up about a week before.  This event was basically planned to be a rookie level show (more for fun) so that some of our inexperienced members could get their feet wet.  We need something like this event to do that.  That is why we are going to have a few more shows this fall before the NAILE.  Our group needs all the practice that it can get!  I've got some friends who will be bringing cattle to the show & I want to help them & help some of the others all that I can.  I may take an animal or 2, but I am mainly going to help the newbies.
