I was wondering if I could get some advice, I have purchase a Hereford heifer calf that is to be weaned and ready for pick the 1week of April, so I am doing my best on educating my self on types of feeds, supplements, hair care products in order to get her at her very best, I have all the big supplies for her and familiar with fitting and showing smaller livestock and have helped with steers here and there, but would love any Input specifically geared towards Hereford calves, as in color or sprays clipping input etc...thank in advance

There is a lot to it, but you need to keep feed to her and keep as much hair on her as possible
If you feed her right and fill her out nice you won't have to much more you could fix on the calf (as in flaws in her build)
But what you can fix on the calf you can cover it with hair
Hair doesn't solve all your problems but it can hide a lot of flaws if it's done right
If it's done wrong it will be a flaw
Don't be afraid to ask local club calve guys or feed distributors for help

A must for Herefords is getting their hair straight . We wash twice a week ( usually Monday and Wednesday ) then rinse the rest of the days . After rinsing them spray them with double dip vinegar mix (50-50) then spray them with olive oil hair spray ( you can get that at Walmart in the natural hair care section comes in a green can) . Then use a brush and brush all the hair straight down. Next use a scotch comb and comb down and forward at a 45 angle. Then blow all the hair forward . When they are almost dry we blow a mix of clean sheen and Sullivan's hair liniment into them and then finish drying the hair by blowing upwards. That will make the hair pop and stand out straight. Then we comb the hair up . Be sure to work the leg hair also. Herf hair can be difficult to work when it isn't straight. Other than that feed her hard . We feed Umbargers Light em Up and wet beat pulp . Start her out on a scoop of each morning and night and work her up from there. Good luck !
