Would this be a Wildside son? Hard to say on such a young calf but who knows. The sun shines on every dogs butt once in awhile. ;D

NOPE he is out of a Wild Side son called Dr. Feelgood.  Dr. Feelgood is a Wild Side out of a Vortec. His dam is still here at our place due to have our first Proud Joe calf. Joe is a Jazz son out of a D. Vision dam.

Thanks Jody for have an independent mind and faith in our cattle.

Not a problem Jeff.. just here to help the little guy, like me, you, and brock..  just see em the way I see em, breed em the way I like em.. and talk about em a little...  I like this calf, as well as another black bull calf quite a lot- have some really nice calves from Dr. Feelgood!.

Jeff, what do you believe should be bred to the Dr. Feelgood daughters first time around?  I'm thinking a Dr. Feelgood son, perhaps?  Got any suggestions?

Here is another pic of Dr. Feelgood, that I think portrays him slightly better.  I still need to get some WS semen..  Wonder how that would work back on Grandaughters?

bash him... I'd like this to be a knock down, drag 'em out, kick'n and screaming brawl.  I think I'm pasture blind, and can't see through his roan coloring...  Bring me back to reality with this calf.

move that auger.  it's an accident waiting to happen.

in pic, front feet turn out.  i see lots of hair.  get a pic of his back legs not over each other.  has a nice topline but would like to see more maleness.  seems a bit narrow and could be more powerful.  clean throat latch.  hopefully his right rear foot doesn't have blood on it.

he has eye apeal but doesnt stand straight front or back looks like he could be cleaner through the brisket and lacks the masculinity and lower quarter as a bull prospect.

I think a bull should be beter then his sire I prefer his sire, but overall I am goin to say he is just alright

Toes out, not masuline enough for me.  If I were you, I wouldn't stack so much Vortec on top of itself (Feelgood daughters back to a son of him.  I like Vortec a lot, but in small doses.  Our herd bull is out of a Vortec son, but only one of our cows goes back to Vortec (well, she's an AoD heifer right now).

If you wanted a totally clean, outcross bull, we just sold one.  Red Diamond x B Good Marco (Royal Marc on a Huberdale cow).  He is one stout sucker too.  His full sib was born yesterday, so we'll see how that goes.

Keep at it with Jeff's genetics, they've done very well for us.

Yep...get that auger out of them!  (clapping)

I am not crazy about the front half...but I think the flaws in the back end are caused by the picture angles.  Good top line, lots of hair, and I think I would like the rear IF I'm right about bad pic angles.

I have only one Dr. Feelgood daughter...  So other than her, this bull would be related to nothing else on the farm...

Dr. Feelgood is also dead and gone.  I have a better bull calf that I plan to keep, out of an Angus cow...but he's 10 fold better than this one.  Neither of them are pure, which doesn't concern me.

Well, you said daughters, so to me, that implied that you had more than one.  MY BAD.

He has a lot of hair, but I think thats normal for calves in your area this time of year so I dont get overly excited about that. He is pretty level down the topline, but beyond that his quality stops for me.  At best I would say he is just OK, at best. I dont think he exhibits anywhere near enough base width and power for me to consider him as a bull, and, as others have said, he really doesnt do it for me in either his front of back legs. If he were in my pasture he would be cut and going to the salebarn. But thats my opinion, I have watched your posts on here about cattle for a while and I figured out a long time ago that our opinions on cattle and breeding are TOTALLY different.

why would you start a topic with "next new shorthorn TH and PHA free" when he isn't a purebred he is a shorty plus. way to waste time when there are plenty of good double clean papered shortys that have breeders that care if they go on.

just to get you rawled up...

I dont' really care what the calf looks like..  He's just a neat calf.

Justin, Well, I understand what you are saying...  Hey, I actually might have two, but the twin to a bull, we're not sure who she's sired by.  There is some family out west that has a couple of Dr. Feelgood daughters- but I sure wised that I would have more.

I wish you had a few more too. As I recall, I nearly bought a Dr. Feelgood heifer from Jeff a couple years ago, but a good family from down south beat me to the punch.

I'm thinking that Jeff only had a set of twin heifers sired by him...  They looked neat to me.  I got some pretty good bull calves from him, but honestly- how many bulls does a guy need?  One?  Sure wish he would have still been around this year for breeding season.

I see a fall born calf that with time on feed will bloom. With the Vortec in his pedigree he will be later to mature. He will have enough grow. Will he have a whale ass and monster bone. NO. Will he be thick enough and sound ...yes. Is he good enough to sell as a show steer down south...yes. Priced right and sent to a home that will just feed him and not over think it he will be fine.

I like to see the "calling out" of the opinions.

Thank you Justin for the kind words.

Jodi do not give in....you may be one of the more think outside the box guys I have ever met, besides Joel Brooks. By the way it will pay off!!!

Breed your way in don't buy it!!!!!
