Just a few tidbits I've picked up from various ads/websites:
  • Kris Black sold the grand steer at Houston.  He also sold that steer's mother along with the Reserve Grand's mother.  His program really has it going for slick cattle.  There haven't been many grand/reserve grands at Houston or San Antonio in the past several years he hasn't been involved with in some way.  Grand was a Heat Wave, reserve was a Johnny Walker Red per Matt Lautner's website.
  • The Champion American at Fort Worth was a Milkman steer.  He caused quite a bit of stir in the champion drive.  Milkman also sired the Champion Charolais steer at San Antonio
  • Most of you have probably caught that some of the SP members raised or sold some of the breed champion steers (and even a Grand Overall) down here this spring.  There are some good folks posting on this site that know what they are doing.
  • Who Made Who is still siring some winners.  A reserve Angus steers at one of our majors was a Who calf
  • Monopoly calves have won a bunch of the winter prospect shows down here and have been some of the really high sellers at recent sales.
