Well, almost ready to go! Pie baked as well as cookies. Minor change on woody. Juli said signs all over saying no dogs in building. He might have to stay in crate most of time so don't look for me w/ him.
Take care all & hope to see as many as possible. My cell number is 740-360-3980.

We too just got home. Had a good time ,only got to meet the Nelsons. Thought they were really nice folks, also made shore to pic up some Joe semen. Maine sale went ok, the bulls averaged around 3200.00, and the heifers were around 2250.00. If I wrote everything down right.

I apologize for not having a whole bunch of time to talk, I am normally much more social. We were both in "business mode" I suppose. It was very nice meeting you, and that was quite an adorable little girl you had clingning to your side ;) Glad to see you got a good little heifer bought as well.

no problem...yes business mode/mommy mode trying to keep track of a 4 year old in that crowd was quite a job...fortunately, she fell asleep on daddy's lap and slept almost the whole auction...might have something to do with the fact when she was a baby we would set her swing up in front of the tv and turn rfd tv on and let her watch the cow auctions...nothing would put her to sleep faster....anyway, i really didnt have time to look around much...we got to columbus friday evening about 830 (i had to work) and didnt go over to the expo center...waited until sat. morning...as soon as the sale was over i headed straight to nelson's to pick up joe semen and cattle visions to get my jpj semen and then we loaded up the heifer and left...i wish i had had more time to look around and visit...but we had a 4 hour drive and was trying to get home and unloaded before dark...i think next year i will take friday off and go up early so i can spend friday looking at everything and then do the sale thing saturday and still be able to get home at a decent hour...
anyway...we are pretty excited about our new purchase...honestly she wasnt on our bid list before we went up there...her pic in the catalog wasnt that good...i had four picked out that i was really interested in...after i got up there...only 2 of the four i had picked i kept on my bid list and then added lot 61...she was presented very well...and her disposition made the sale...lindsay will probably be showing her a little this summer....the lakeside heifer was absolutely beautiful but was way out of my price range(i stayed in till $3000)...got lot 61 bought...and then i tried lynle1234's heifer(lot 67) but i was about $500 short... i kept telling my husband  "i told you so"  "i told you so"...we should have bought that heifer back in november...he agreed!
so what lots did you end up with?

We bought lots 29 and lot 36.
We thought, and were told by many, that it was a shocker that 29 was not in the top 2 in the show. Lot 36 just got lost plain and simple. Not many people were paying attention when she came into the ring, but we were luckily ;)

I heard that the champion and top selling Shorthorn bull at the OBE was a son of our main herd sire Wolf Willow Major Leroy 1M. He was Wernacres Hi-Lite and I think he was the first bull calf from Leroy born in the US. Dale Wernicke had a couple heifers born earlier, but this was the first bull. It isn't often that the first born from any bull can win a major event like this. I heard he was a good bull... what did some of you who saw him think?

We just completed our end of test results and our ultrasound on all the bulls, and the Leroy bulls all had indexes over 100 for Rib eye area and most are pretty good for IMF as well. We are really pleased with our first Leroy daughters now in production... nice tidy udders, easy fleshing, and quiet as they come. His calves are the most docile I have ever had on the farm

i thought he looked very good...i was impressed with his thickness, amount of bone, correctness, and volume...yet still appeared to be in a moderate package...

Thanks for bidding on our heifer!  If we have anything that caliber next year, we'll let you know!  I am glad that you were able to get something purchased and made it home safely.

Now I see who made me go out of my budget I only wanted to go to $2500 for lot 67 but the longer she stayed in there the more I like her. I will keep you all updated with pictures of her she has a show to go to the first week of April.

Good luck to you LFFASHOWER.  I was standing in the back looking at lynle1234's heifer as she went in to the the ring, and bid from in back of the block by Cagwin.  Bid on 3 other shorthorns that day, and didn't get anything bought.  (Sorry, LFFASHOWER--I contributed to your over-budget situation--I quit at $ 2800...but aren't you glad other people liked her?!?)

If I was to show her the next day in the JR. show she would of competed in the plus division but not overall there were some darn nice heifers in the final drive
