There should be plenty of Legend daughters in production throughout the country and hopefully a few people with daughters on this board. Would you say his milk EPD of +3 accurately portrays how well his daughters might milk. I have always liked Legend and Lookout calves that I've seen but that number is about enough to scare me away from both of these bulls. Those of you with experience on either of these bulls daughters fill me in.

Have one Legend first calf heifer doing a very nice job with a Gigolo Joe heifer calf. Beautiful udder, There will be more Legend females here, but I'll use him on good milking cow families. The other Legend female we own (pictured below) was reserve Champ Maintainer at the 2010 PA Farm Show.

Our only Legend in production has the most perfect udder I've ever been around and is milking very nicely as a second calver....perfection.

OK I have to ask, anyone else have any calving troubles with Legend? I have pulled calves out of every bull but one that I used on 1st calf heifers this year including, ACC1 Hustler, Grizzly, Gig Joe, Dawson's Cherokee166, & Legend. The Legend calf was a bull calf born 5 days early , but weighed by sight and experience, over 100 lbs. The heifer was a Dr. Who/Heat Seeker. The Legend calf lived for 48 hours & I had thought that we had a good chance of saving him, but I guess that the birth was too traumatic. I have heard of others having troubles with OCC Legend also. The only bull that we have not pulled any calves out of that we used on heifers so far has been Raptor, 13 days early on a Heet Seeker 40lbs. BTW, I would have to say that we do have clubbie blood in our heifers but also have PB Angus. Tough year!! Anyone else?

Our BC Lookout cattle are some of the best  tempemented ones I have ever worked with.  They broke fast and are great to clip on and show.

CAB....we have never ever pulled a Legend baby (note to self; have the chains ready for the first one next spring ;)  Now BC Lookout; we've had to crank a few.  I was thinking Lookout would be our replacement to Legend, as I really like them and they do have just a touch more growth pop than legend, but you do sacrifice calving ease.  We will continue to use him selectively.

We will go back and breed a few more to Legend this year, though I'm contemplating Missing Link.  Any thoughts on him?

I agree with Ron.  I use Lookout on the heifers that need to be calmed down a bit.

Anyone care to comment on how the BC Lookout daughters milk?  We are breeding a few heifers to him now, that are bigger in size or have a history of lower birth calving ease.  We've like the BC Lookouts that we have seen as well.  We've also got some BC Eagle Eye bull calves on the ground now.  He is a Lookout son.  Those calves are really stout and soft made, but the birthweights indicated not to breed him to heifers!  Might be a bit more power and grow in them though than Lookout himself....time will tell.

We only have one Legend out of a Purebred Angus cow and she is on here 2nd calf, plenty of milk and really nice udder.  We have only used Legend on the one cow, and she had the heifer fine, on the right cow we would certainly use him again.
CAB, all of our calves so far have been good sized this year, don't know if it's because of the really cold winter or what, but they seem to be larger than normal.
