i sold some old angus semen recently on a bull coalbridge marshall.  a guy got 8/16 #1's and will give me a couple.  he's canadian bred.  i think he was born around 1970.  kinda cool.

3 other angus bulls on the way to try including that abangomere eston bull i posted a while ago about.

Did they use more then one unit?  That sounds like a pretty good flush.

they used 3 units at 3 different times, no deep horn breeding.  the motility, live sperm etc were all low, in fact, the one stud where i had it said throw it out.

we had some older shorthorn semen(Weston Ablo born 1977) a stud told us we should discard but used a vial last year anyway and got a good bull calf. Thsi year we used it in a flush and got 4 #1 embryos. We also used a different older bull(Mandalong Super Flag born 1971) with vials in a flush and got 8 embryos and 6. The vet said he had used some Charolais semen from 1965 and had a good flush. said the results with vials and been very good.

In the past few years I have flushed to some older semen from a few older sires. I did 3 flushes to TPS Coronet Leader 21 and this semen was collected in 1965. It was all extremely high quality. The Leader 4th semen I used in the past couple years was tested before I used it for flushing, and my ET vets said it was some of the highest quality semen they had tested in a long time. Just because semen is old, does not mean it can be low quality. Some of it is extremely good quality. I also have about 100 vials of Mandalong Super Flag semen, and I plan to use some soon in some flushing ventures.

I was just searching for some old canadian semen from bulls that were drawnin the 1970's.  And I came accross you two guys chatting to each other, by chance can you find, or do you have access to more of these bulls that were drawn in the 1970's.  You can reply back tome on here or e mail me at [email protected]. Thanks.

Were you referring to Justintime and me? We kind of got sidetracked on old shorthorn semen on an Angus thread. We have some older bulls some we would part with but no large quantities. Did you have any bloodlines in mind?
