I bought my Dads tanks and semen inventory and have semen available on these old school Angus bulls.  Dates reflect their approximate birth date.

Emulous TN 70    1968
Earl Marshall Legend      1975
Sayre Patriot            1976
Black Ballot F65    1962
Shearbrook Shoshone
PS Power Play
Rito 8799              1968    #6002229
Lemar Eileenmeer Lad 549    'Sky High'
Lovana
Rito 2  878

And these old show bulls, or sires of show bulls from 78-90 or so:
Harrison
TC Total 410
QLC Winchester
Baldridge Oscar
Stardust Expansion
WAF Trendsetter
Rosebank Connection 68
Loma Lanes Cracker Jack
Bonview Spectrum
Mon Reposa Chapparal
Manhatten of Indian Creek
SAF Fame
Wrangler
Nelson Bold Ruler
Dr Spock
Wild Turkey
Administrator
Dameron Line Drive

I welcome discussion and memories on these bulls.  Many were labeled as hard calving but I would not be scared to use them on my mature Angus cows.

I would welcome pictures of the bulls and any progeny you would share.

First bull is Black Ballot F65
Second is Shearbrook Shoshone

I'm not an Angus guy, but know a bit about some of them...

I was a vet student at Auburn back in 1982/83, when Lovana topped the bull test sale there, selling for something like $340,00.00 - an unheard of $$ amount for a yearling bull in those days... and was soon syndicated for well over a million dollars.  Lovana semen is still out there, for about $20/unit... and I've toyed with the idea of getting some and using it, just for nostalgia's sake... but suspect I'd be 'going backwards' in more ways than one.

PS Power Play was sire of Lovana and Scotch Cap.

Sayre Patriot... red gene carrier, son of Ankonian Dynamo.  Sired a lot of really good cattle; I'd probably use that semen today, on select cows.

For grins, I may flush one of my Angus cows this spring to Patriot.

I hope a Red Angus guy would have some interest in a flush.

Lovana had some outstanding numbers as I recall.  He was promoted heavily in Angus Journal

Power Play sired some influential cattle in his day.

My parents had a set of half brothers that came from foote angus in Idaho in the early nineties that were out of manhattan of Indian creek and they were BIG... with Big birth weights. I would be interested if there is a picture of manhattan floating around. I just checked and they are also out of a wild turkey daughter a bull also listed above.

I see nothing wrong with that Rito bull.

Manhattan threw some outstanding cattle.  Personally, I would like to see what he would do on today's soggy females.

I called the breeder of Manhattan this morning and hope to find a picture somewhere.

By today's standard about anything is hard  calving.  I cant remember any of them as being a problem,  the shoshone daughters were the base of several bulls in the 80's shy high was on the top of a lot of pedigrees.  Manhattan was out of broadway,  probably the most man made bull of the breed.  R&J bought him and spent a fortune making him what he was.  Couldn't walk, stumbled into the ring at the futurity and still won.
Patriot goes back to emulation 31, might be the worst disposition bull of any angus,  he was on the verge of having one testicle,  females were great if you could stand the attitude.
Bold ruler is found in several red pedigrees if you dig far enough.
There was two Wranglers,  one out of Kansas and the other was a r&J deal.  The later wasn't much.
Power play lovana, cracker jack, would fit in today's business I would think.

I believe I have seen New Yorker listed at 70" tall and other bulls of the era at 68".  No doubt these are exaggerations, and photos were taken from ground level to increase appearance of height.

70" tall at two years would be as big or bigger than purebred Chi and Holstein bulls.

I have just a few Angus cows, but would like to see what Rosebank Connection 69 (1979), Mon Reposa Chapparal (1971)and Loma Lanes Cracker Jack (1977)would do.  I think they would make moderate and efficient females.

Shoshone has a Wye background so it is easy to see why he would make such good females.
