I understand why some of these big cattle distributors tend to act like an ass
If you think about it they are all busy men
They can cater to everyone's little cattle needs just because they have connections
I would get a little pissed with people if they constantly call wanting help with this or that
I don't care how much of an ass people act if they have a cow/calf/bull that will improve our herd I'm going to put up with that individual

Not me, too many good options out there! I had a negative experience about 4 years ago that caused me to make a change. I have no regrets and have been very happy with the"relationship" I have with my current semen provider. He always has time for me.

That's the way it should be. I don't care if I buy the best, I want the best customer service tho. If not you won't see a dime from me.

Absolutely not! I would acknowledge their rude behavior before I left and told him and the manager I would not be back.

Is Phil, Matt's dad or uncle?

Also, I was under the impression that most of bulls Matt represents, he is majority owner but when I was looking at bull pedigrees the other day, I noticed that he owns many of those bulls with Phil or is part minority owner in many others.  Phil and Matt seem to operate their websites as if they are two separate entities but ownership records indicate otherwise.

Just trying to clear up some confusion on my end.

Jive Turkey, I'm sorry that this got away from us.  Neither of us said anything of the negative.  I know you were just trying to figure everything out.  I hope I helped.  I don't know what everyone else is trying to do.  Trash people they wish they were, I guess...

None of my comments were intended to bash or praise any one particular individual. I am 56 years old and still believe that a man's word is his bond and a handshake is still binding. Call it "old school" or whatever you choose but customer service and being treated like you are significant is something that is still highly valued by many Americans. I predict that if all bull owners/ semen suppliers were honest and had the ability to track the end user. The total amount of semen sold to individuals that ordered 50 or less straws/ year would far exceed the total of those over 50. I do understand that your original post was a request for information/ clarification. If you will check I asked a similar question a couple of weeks ago. I just thought it was a good opportunity to weigh in on doing business. I have made some of the same mistakes! Back in the late 70s and 80s I was raising purebred Duroc seedstock. I had big dreams of selling a few top breeders a boar for big money and I struggled. It wasn't till I had a conversation with an older breeder that I began to see things differently. He said basically " I sell 200 purebred boars / year to commercial producers for $300.00 each. How long do you think it is going to take you to sell a $60,000.00 boar?" You can go from being on top of your game one day to struggling the next or "from the penthouse to the outhouse" very quick. During those good times you need be building a customer base that will take you through the bad times and there will be bad times, there always are. Again, I do understand the intent of the original post. Just sharing some thoughts that may help someone along the way.

The owner of the company I work for has a saying ... "Customers are like hearts, they go where they are loved" it is very true people go where they have had the best experience regardless

Ive never dealt with either in person but Matt has reposted several of my pictures on the blog/website with my contact info which has led to several nice sales. He's also answered any question I've ever had.
The livestock (show) industry is a tough one- if you've never had anything worth a damn you might as well go on the internet and rundown everybody you can.

Matt has taken care of me anytime I've ever had a question or needed something.

You really think if he was that bad on customer service he'd be successful?

No matter what business in, you focus your time and energy on your biggest accounts.  If you want something from someone, CALL, don't just email or Facebook.  He does have other employees that can help.  You probably can't get every question answered by the president of a car dealership - that's the salesmen's job.
