I am looking for some semen on an shorthorn bull.  (KABA Keystone)   Cane should be labeled SS13.    Would anyone have that in their semen tank.

Thanks,
Car

Dale Studer used him several years ago.  Don't know if he'd have any left or not.  Might be worth a call.

Yes I did and I still have a few straws on him.  I know dale used him and I think I talked to him once a while back on wether he had any left.  I was just hoping some others might have a few in there tank.

I also owned snappy and he was a super easy calving bull with lots of color and style.  There is plenty of semen left on him.  Just not much on Keystone.  I gave a lot away several years ago.  I wish I hadn't done that now.

I would really appreciate the opportunity to buy it back if there is any to be had.  Do you know at one time Keystone was the 5th most used shorthorn bull used in america.  If I could get some of the semen back I would experiment a little with the current bloodlines available in the club calf industry.

If anyone has any, give me a call at 405-779-8016 cell.

Have a great day.

I bought 5 straws of Snappy several years ago, but didn't have any luck with conception.  I really liked his muscle pattern combined with style.  Am I remembering correctly that he was THC?  If I run across any Keystone, I'll let you know.

I never tested snappy.  I sold him before testing became the norm.    I don't know what he would have tested.     I do know that in the 15 years we raised shorthorns I never had a th or ph calf.  Now the owner that bought him might have tested him, but I didn't.    Sorry about the low conception rate.  He was collected in Shamrock, Texas.  They ususally do a real good job keeping the count high.  He was 12 months old when he started producing semen. We did have one calf crop from him and it produced a Res. Champion at the New Mexico State FAir.    Red with white markings if I remember right.

I think he would have been a solid producer bred back to maine cross cows or back tothe Keystone daughters, but we sold out before we took it to that level.  After he left our house I am not sure how long he was used or what he produced.  He did get a good home.  I just don't know what he done.

I still have some semen and might use it on  some big boned heifers.  Like most all light BW bulls he didn't excell in bone size.  He as just average.

I would like to thank Doc for responding and selling the keystone semen back to me.  If there is anyone else with canes labels SS13, please contact me at 405-779-8016.  Also if anyone is coming from Tenn. to Oklahoma in the near future please give either Doc or myself a call.  We would appreciate it.

Thanks,
Carl Venable <beer>

I need to set the record straight.  I said earlier that I had purchased 5 straws of Snappy and had no luck with conception and expressed that I thought I had heard that he might be a TH carrier.  I apologize for getting Snappy mixed up with a bull called Lights Out.  This was totally my mistake.

No need to apologize.  It didn't bother me any.  I guess he could be if he was never tested.    (angel)
