Older bulls

Would like advice on what these bulls work on and also what bulls to use on their daughters. Any help is much appreciated:

Explosion
Shakedown
Streamliner
Reflector
TC Dividend 963
Payday
Jolt
Lovana
Polleroid
Platinum
Stilts
PS Power Play
Stinger

Haven't had any experiance with any of these bulls but i do know they are from a time and place where there was alot of air under the showcattle so i don't know if they would be really relevant in todays industry,although daughters maybe.Might wanna stay away from STINGER hes where all the problems have started from.

Interesting list, but not sure what to tell you, agree they may be harder to match with a cow to make them popular today.

If Shakedown is from K & A, he sired some pretty good stuff. I had a bull that went back to him that I liked pretty good. Lovana was a pretty good maternal sire.

TC Dividend  was a very good female bull exspecially used on moderate females .He was Traveler cow an then out of Leachmen Prompter a very big bull but the cattle out of 953 were moderate an fairly easy calving .PS Power Play I think is out of the Lovanna bull , an they would have been in use back 70's  an both had very productive smaller females .Proably people looking for semen out of these bulls ,because they were before some one changed the Angus a bunch.

one of my all time favorite pictures is of the 3/4 forward shot of PS power play.  to bad the side profile is overused.

Here is what my old memory remembers about these bulls.  May not be completely accurate so feel free to correct my ramblings.


Buck:  Black Simmental that could sire big quarters, but sloppy fronts on some.  moderate frame. Still useful.
Explosion:  Mr. Tri Explosion?  Red Maine bull from Rick Frye, calving ease and super calves both steers and heifers.  I would still use this bull.
Shakedown:  K&A sire
Streamliner:  Power Plant's sire, larger frame
Reflector: DJ Reflector, good female sire.  Sired some good steers in his day.
TC Dividend 963:  Angus, good female sire, but some calves lacked muscle and were refined.
Payday:  Sired by tidal wave, breeds similar to Power Plant.
Jolt:  MCF sire, 3/4 maine with some simmental.  Huge hip, birth weight might have been an issue, not sure.
Lovana: Old Ankony angus sire, won about every show he was entered in. 
Polleroid:  DMCC bull, great female sire, steers were ok.
Platinum: A Kroupa legend by power plant. I have semen and will use it on the right cow for maine angus x steers and heifers
Stilts:  Old Maine, big but good females.  Will upsize, lengthen and  tighten.
PS Power Play:  Old Penn State bull,
Stinger: Old Hullinger/Klingner shorthorn, TH?

P S Power Play was out of a bull called Early Sunset Emulous 60E. I am told his daughters maid great cows. I used him on a Shorthorn female a couple years ago. The heifer from that mating looks like she is going to be a be a good cow but not much for the show ring.

BUCK:  can be traced back several generations in some of the best simmy cattle out there, BUT, emphasis on several generations back....if you were to use him today, it better be on an extremely small Ohlde Angus type female.

EXPLOSION:  I actually went back and used him again a few years ago....little dissappointed....our hair quality has drastically improved since that era and it showed!  Good sound females though.

REFLECTOR:  There were a lot of winning Heat Seekers that were out of Reflector cows a few years ago.

JOLT:  Mid Continent Farms old bull that was WAY ahead of his time...believe he was a Power Plant out of a Toni(SM)/An cow....smaller framed for his day....would color them up....sold Oran Wolf one years ago that looked like a Hereford....used to love this bull.

POLLEROID:  Saw him on display at the Missouri Beef Expo (now AGR)....was the hairiest bull I'd ever seen in my life.....Brad Tummons was taking care of him....literally 4 inches of leg hair...before the Heat Seeker days had started.

Stinger was a Maine but has some issues in his background
