February Classen heifer... she stood 3rd in class of 8 at our State Futurity show... Judge said she was too green to stand higher in the class..
Any opinions on the heifer are appreciated & how do you put more condition on without getting them fat and blowing out the brisket?

You've got a real nice heifer.  If she's too green I'd hate to see what "just right" looks like.  She doesn't appear green at all.  Sometime you gotta ignore the noise.  Judges can be wrong.  It is just one man's opinion after all.

the first pic is of our bred & owned heifer...  She is a June Burgess out of CM T816 IN Focus....  got the same response in ring with her.. too green & gave up to much condition to the calf in front of her..  was 2nd in class.

Guess the judge forgot it was a breeding heifer class, not a market heifer class.  Would like to see pics of the higher placing heifers.  Were they fatter or just bigger bellied?

Eh, don't sweat it. Being immature this time of year is fine. We're showing a June heifer and in the open show at NWSS the judge said she's an amazing female, but the other class winners are older......well duh. She was the youngest female in the show. Didn't bother the Jr show jidge, he still used her in division.

I like both of the females posted in this thread so I'll post one of my too immature June into the mix.

I really like that shorthorn heifer.. she looks really nice... thank you to everyone for their comments so far... I really appreciate all the feedback on these calves.  Thats what I keep trying to tell myself that our goal is NJAS in July so sacrifice some greenness early to end at 12 o clock come July...

That is a very nice heifer, I would say you are on the right track with how you are feeding her.
