We are currently in the process of looking for a cleanup bull... we just have a handful of cows half are just commercial cows, the other half clubby cows that were former show heifers (Chi, Found Simmi., shorthorn plus and PB Maine) We want a claving ease bull that is clean, since some of the old show hfrs are TH carriers. We AI all of our cows, so our cleanup bull would be more for making  feeder calves. My question to you as producers would be should we go with a PB Simm or Maine or go simmi/angus for color in case we got a good showable calf.

First I will give the disclaimer that I am a Purebred Simmental and Simmental x producer.  So to some it may seem I'm partial but I think a good PB Simmental or SimAngus bull will give you predictability on paper, take care of the genetic concerns on the carrier cows, and depending on the pedigree you should like what you see in the heifers and also have a marketable calf whether they spend time in the show ring first or not.

Best of luck!
