This is a March 2009 bull calf I raised. Would like to know what you think of him.

Always hard to tell from photos alone, but his feet all seem to point forward and he looks pretty thick.  How old is he?

I hope you put some more photos up after 3 more months.  I have a couple of lookout calves on the way next spring and yours looks pretty good for his age.  I would like to see a side view from a lower angle and see one with him on a surface where the photo will show his pasterns and feet.

Why do you guys say steer him and then don't state any reasons?  He looks like a pretty typical Angus.

Looks good!

I have a Lookout x Foreman daughter that looks awesome. I will get pics out soon.

If you do keep him a bull, would you keep him for yourself or sell him?
If not for yourself, do you have a market around your area to market?

If you cut him, would you use him as a show steer or feed lot steer?

I'm not really sure what i am going to do with him just yet. If he keeps on progressing like he is, he is going to stay a bull. Then I might try to use him up as a clean up bull on a few cows next year and then show him a few times throughout the summer. Then I will hopefully be able to sell him while i am showing him.

But if I steer him I will sell him as a show steer for the county fair.

where i live it would probably be easier to sell him as a steer but he does look pretty good and would make a nice clean up bull especially with the pedigree. he is plenty thick for an angus and does have good body depth.

I say to steer him because he looks average or below for an Angus.  He looks small for his age.  He seems to be sickle-hocked.  Muscling seems to be light.  I think way too many animals are kept as bulls, that don't deserve to be.  IMO, I wouldn't keep him as a bull, nor do I think he would show very well based on the pictures provided.

Well everybody has their opinion but what the judges and people that have seem him have said is that they can't believe he is an angus because he is so wide and has that much muscle. I have also have people guessed him to be a Jan. calf instead of a Mar.

What is his hip ht and what does he weigh.  Photos never really give a good idea of width of the animal.  I did not see him as sickle hocked -- maybe could be set up a little better.

Remember this post is called "Opinions on Angus bull calf".....

He is typical angus. Althought extended in his neck, it seems sloppy and wasty.  He appears high flanked and appears to pinch behind his shoulders. Navel a bit large. He has adequate thickness for an angus and has good length. Can't comment on size, as even midget stubby club calves can look large in a picture.
He does have a good pedigree, but doesn't seem to live up to it.
I have agree with another post, too many bulls are kept with high hopes of big money and fame. 99% of the time it doesn't work out. Most of the time, black bulls are a dime a dozen.
I wish you luck in your decision.

It is evident that a lot of people on this forum can't see cattle without hair and them being fit.  This is an well above average to very good Angus bull calf.  Great hip, shape, neck extension and body.  Not to mention a marketable pedigree.

I agree, I think that he is a attractive young bull calf, I think that if he has a low birth weight then you should keep him a bull
