I would love opinions on these two heifers, the first is a purebred shorthorn out of Capiche and a Salute x Double Stuff cow. The second is a 5/8 mainetainer calf out of a son of Rick Frye's bull The Messenger and a Heatwave cow. I'm super excited about both and both will be for sale, they are being day weaned right now, as we are hurting for hay and they will be weaned a little earlier. Let me know what you think.

I really like the Maine heifer, I think the right hands she will be real good and be able to get kicked out and be an awesome cow. Her dam although a heatwave is a milking machine! Possibly because of her bottom side being icepick x red knight

my major concern with the maine heifer is that she toes out really bad and she could be a touch smoother where her neck comes out of her shoulder.the shorthorn heifer seems like a decent heifer. she could use a notch more depth but nothing too important at this point. they are both really green seeing how they are still somewhat on the cow. Once you get them weaned and on grain a few weeks it will be really interesting to see how they turn out!

Ice pick and heat waves are not known for being milking machines.

Is there a pic of the mother with her bag full?

I have yet to see an ice pick or heat wave mIlking machine. Some keep talking that they exist. Would love to see one.

She definitely has turned it on since August,  She has only gotten better since then. She is currently still for sale. I will be getting better pictures of the black and white one soon as well

The shorthorn heifer will be at Fort Worth junior heifer as well as open. Any thoughts on where she could improve?

I would love to see the main as of right now. Wow! The Shorthorn has changed. Whatever you guy are doing seems to be the right thing in my opinion.

Thank you, we will be getting pictures of the Maine Monday she hasn't turned it on near as well as the shorthorn in my opinion. But I will let you all be the judges

By deduction then, PB Shorthorns finish quicker than Maintainers, even though the Maintainers have the advantage of heterosis! ;)

The Shorthorn really filled out in the right places-and her topline (coulda been the picture) is way better. The maine seems to be going the other direction-just dont think she has the right look in the rear areas-especially pins to hooks-I havent seen her walk-but she just doesnt look as balaced or sound as the Shorthorn O0

The shorthorn is turning into a pretty good one. You/her  have really turned it on since the first set of pictures. Good work.
