Whats everyones opinion on Opti-flex or show cattle explosion products for enhancing muscle on steers?

How much of a degree does it affect the soundness of a steer. What if you used a joint supplement along with it.???

It does seem to work but I would only use it for slick show steers for tone and shape.  No effect really on soundness I've seen.  Although, If your calf has any structural problems at all, I wouldn't use it.

I think they are great products, however not every calf is a candidate for them. Two things the claf must be before i would think about puttin him on it is #1 structually sound, and #2 already fat. If the steer is not already as fat as you want him then he prolly wont ever get there. Also be very consistent with feeding it and dont feed it over the amount given or the number of days given.

My steer is in the cold box right now, and is fat. Hes fully covered over his ribs.
he weighs 1230lbs. and we have 50 days till fair.
He lacks lower quarter muscle expression and needs more" pop" to his hip, being a shorthorn. Would this product work for him??
Another question is will it strip the cover he already has?

what is this opti-flex made from?

The active drug in optaflexx is ractopamine hydrocloride, which is from a family of compounds known as repartitioning agents or beta agonists.
