IMO, putting a CIDR in after breeding is a bad idea. The idea behind using a CIDR is that the extra progesterone could rescue some pregnancies that would otherwise tank because the natural CL is not producing enough progesterone. A new CIDR has enough progesterone to last about 14 days. Once that progesterone is gone, you are back to relying on the natural CL that isn't producing enough progesterone and pregnancy will likely tank.

Actually, the potential vaginal infection caused by the presence of a CIDR is more likely to have a negative affect on pregnancy than than the very slim chance of the progesterone reversing a doomed pregnancy.

So was wondering in reading this thread when you implant the embryo in the cow on day 7  do you put a the cidr  back into the cow on the same day? are you putting a fresh cidr back in the cow? How many days do you leave it in for after implant? It's an interesting concept would love to know how well it works.

From what I can remember,  we would put a new cidr in same day and pull it a few days later.  I will have to make some calls to get the exact protocol since this was 15 years ago.
