We got our first Fringe calf, a heifer out of a Sin City shorthorn cow. We estimate her birth weight between 65 and 70lbs. We got a pic of her at about 12 hours old, it isn't the best but I just wanted to post it. We named her Iris, it seems to fit her.
    Thanks, dhs

Looks like the gal is gonna have some bone to her. Do you have a picture of momma? Nice heifer.

Fringe is Rumor Has It X a full sister to Get Serious & Absolutely.

Phildon JBS Fringe *x4146465--SEK, Cattle Visions & shorthornshop carry him.

He's thick, very heavy-boned, and extremely sound.

Here's a pic of the calf's dam and a pic of Fringe. We also added a pic of her 1/2 sib from last year, this heifer was sired by New Vision.

Here are a few updated pics of our Fringe heifer at a year old. She is unclipped in the pics and was just started on beet pulp for the first time one week ago today. I really like the functionality of these type of cattle. This may not be one of the all time best show heifers but she has alot to offer. I wish there were alot more shorthorns out there like this one at least in terms of rib shape, depth of body, feed ability,  stoutness, and nature thickness. Please feel free to comment on her. Thanks, dhs

I'd be curious to see if the judge had the same thoughts as me... that' heifer's got a lot of front end on her, of course she's got alot of other things too, but boy that front shoulder sticks right out..

did you have to pull this calf?

Fringe calves are nice.  We got our first one this summer and he is a great one.  We will do it again.  We seen a pic of your fringe last year and was the reason we used him.  Thanks for the pic

Here is a pic of ours.  Pic was taken at 10 days of age.  He came unassited.

Good luck with your fringe.  She looks like a money maker.

i think it would be hard for an animal with that much base width to be real clean in the shoulder,my opinion she should be shown as a market heifer.

Thanks to both breeders for posting these pics.  We have 2 Fringe calves on the way.  Can't wait to see what we get!

Just lookin at that picture, I disagree with your birthweight "estimate". Looks way heavier than that to me.  Doesnt really matter as this heifer is now 1 1/2 years old but cmon.

Calf looks like she has a lot of hair. Could make her look bigger than actually is. The two breeders with the fringe calf; what type of cows are you using him on. We have a few shorthorns I will like to use him on but I need to know what he "clicks" with? Thanks
