I have a beginning of march 2010 heifer that weighs 1050. I think that she is over weight and would like her to be around 970-1000. She is an extremely easy keeper. I keep cutting back her grain and giving more hay but its getting to the point where its inhumane to take away anymore grain. I would just turn her out but i cant afford her to lose hair because i want to continue showing her throughout spring and summer. Is there anyother option besides turning her out?

Feed her a bunch of wet beet pulp and oats and hay.  It's not inhumane to dry lot one, we do it all the time.
