overdue cow

I have a limi cow who, to my calculation, is 12 days over her due date. this is her 3rd calf.. and it is an AI calf, we don't have a bull.. nor does anyone around here have one. I'm getting pretty worried about it, would you induce?? I called a vet yesterday and he said that he wouldnt induce her, should I go to a different vet or just wait it out? she usually has pretty small calves (60-70 range) but it just worries me for a calf to be in there that long that it will get to big. what would you do?

I would not induce. There are many different factors as to why your cow is beyond the average date. Breed, sex of calf, sire, nutrition and so on. I don't think 14 days is that uncommon.

If the cow always has small calves, I wouldn't worry to much. However, if you fear a big calf and are absolutely sure she is AI'd I would induce her. We have induced over 12 in the past four years and have never had a problem. Some as early as three days over, usually Heatwaves. In my experience with club calf bulls, I would much rather induce one on gestation day, than have one a couple of weeks late. We use 12 dex and 5 lutatlyse. Calves usually come within 30 hours. This is just a suggestion, and by all means use your own judgement. Some vets won't even give you the medicine, others recommend it.

Get a sleeve,  carefully check to see where feet are,  not  hard to figure out even if you have never preg checked,  if you find feet, head right there time is right,  if legs are bigger than your wrist I would induce,  Have induced as early as 3 weeks [some chi x bred chi back when they were cow killers] 
  Dex will cause the lungs to expand  20 cc and look for a critter 72 hours,  not a fan of the lut business but a lot of vets do.
