I for once saw the wrinting on the wall concerning cattle mineral and feed.  I was concerened about the lack or shortage of inputs last winter. Right after the first of the year I bought enough creep feed to last thru the summer and mineral to last the whole year..I hope.  Since then the feed has gone up almost on a weekly basis as well as the mineral.
Just hope after this stock pile runs out I'll be able to get some next year. :(

I wiork for an animal health and feed outlet, when we heard that phos was going up we contacted our producers and ordered what they thought they wanted and then some.  since then KayDee mineral has went up 240 a ton.  We can still get mineral and have it custom made.

10-34-0 is in the same boat as many of the other fertilizer products when it comes to the big run up in price but it also is worse with 10-34-0 as there is a true shortage of phos-acid which is used to make 10-34-0.  if you don't have yours bought it is very likely that you may not be able to get any, if you can get some you should cut it 50% with 28-0-0 to make the precious few gallon stretch to cover your acres.  this is a tough time for fert now and doesn't look to get better any time soon.

the government can no longer disguise inflation by removing that which contributes to inflation from indexes.  i guess real inflation to be around 15% for the last 2 years if not more for the stuff i buy, ie food, services, gas.

more and more i am reminded of the picture i saw in national geographic where two men in their 40's were laying on a cart of some sort, hand pulling weeds and thinning crops for prince charles.  land ownership itself may be in jeopardy.  the very foundation of the country.  some in the US would like to see that.  state ownership.  the weather underground for one.

redwingfarm....have you ever used black label?
By black label i am assuming you are refering to black acid 10-34-0 as opposed to the standard green poly 10-34-0,  no i have never used black product, i did know a competitor who used it in the 90's, main problem then was the impurities which caused it to be black would settle out and leave gunk in the tanks.  if i remember correctly the black stuff was from a byproduct manufacturing.  if it is all you can get, then it is better than going without.
