I just got a new Mac and was wanting to get into some photo editing for a little bit of a hobby/spending money maybe.  Is there a program that anyone really loves besides the obvious Aperture or Photoshop?

Photoshop...hands down.

Photoshop is the only thing I've ever used and it's been good to me! The nice thing about it is there's a million and then some tutorials online and a lot of people use it so someone has probably had the question you have.  I haven't broken down and bought it for my Mac yet, but I've always heard its phenomenal to use on Macs since that graphic design and Mac have always been a good combo.

We have Photo Shop Elements on both our Macs.  You can get Elements for under $100 usually and you can do all the editing the normal person needs with it including removing halters and adjusting backgrounds.  There is a learning curve with it but not to hard to master the basics and there is a lot of tutorial videos on You Tube that are a great help!

I tried the demo of Aperture but decided Elements would better suit us.

Hope that helps a little.
