Well, besides calving, wrestling, 4-H, and basketball we do cubscouts here at the Funk household.  We had our local pinewood derby the other night.  Thought it would be nice to share pictures of the cars ect.  Win or loose, I think its the boys working with there mom and or dad and having fun with friends!

Ah hell ya!!!! Derby cars were the best part of cubscouts. I made mine own, I shaved it down to about an inch thick at the back and about half inch in the front and curved like a 'Vette. I put washers on the bottom for added weight and that sucker FLEW!!!! It had to be a certain weight to compete, so I added quite a few washers  ;D oh and a little planter graphite never hurt the wheels, but I didnt say that  ;D

Knabe if you only knew!!! keep building boys its the racing we loved! For us herein Nw iowa the thrill was winning at the pack and going to Sioux Falls to get into scoutarama races. Both my boys went won pack etc and we had a ball! CArs looked just like yours and thats what you get when the kids do the work! We had one family who owned a body shop cars looked just like reproductions but no speed!! But those boys still drag race so the interest was different than what we had in mind.Fun Fun Fun!!!P.S. should have seen DAds face when he had to carve that camaro lookalike up to make weight!! Priceless

Hahaha!!! We had a few people that had to do that at my race when I was a younger. The kid was like whatever, but I'm pretty sure the dad was on the brink of tears lol ;) you know who did the work there.  (lol)  ::)

Funny to see this topic this morning.  I was talking to a friend of mine this week about the Pinewood Derby and he said people sell finished cars on eBay and sure enough I took a look and there is a car listed at $225 and lots of cars for over $100  :-\
