Okay, first let me try and calm down.  My daughter's show steer was doing  good and looking  good and now everything is falling apart.  As of last week he was gaining 3.4 Lbs. a day, she shows the first week in May and he was right on track.  Well, starting last Wednesday he had very loose stools for 2 days, the vet told us to give him 5 sulfur boluses (spell??) and things should clear up.  We gave them to him on Friday, as of this time he was eating great.  Starting Saturday morning he quit eating, I gave him 15cc of probiotic and did not think too much of it.  He still looked bad Sat. afternoon so I took his temperature, it was at 106!!!  I thought he was coming down with what my daughter's heifer had so I gave him Draxxin like we gave the heifer 2 weeks ago, and I also gave him Banamine.  Sunday, his temp. had gone down to normal, I gave him more Banamine and more probiotic.  I tried to just work him up with a little feed, last night I gave him 1 1/2 scoops of feed, he looks like he ate maybe a half of that.  He is eating some hay, but not alot, and he is drinking.  Is there anything else that I should be doing to get him to eat again.  I am very worried about him!!!

keep taking his temp. Just gradually increase his feed. Let him clean it up. it might take him a couple of days to get back on track. Keep up w/ the probiotics.
Good luck! is he wheezing or coughing? How is manure now?

Thanks Red.... His manure looks alot firmer now and his temp. is staying where it should be.  He looks perky and everything, he just does not seem interested in eating!  The reason I am freaking out is because he had Mycoplasma back in September and he got so bad that he almost died.  We worked our tails off to get him back to "normal" and my goodness he came back with a bang, he was looking so good.....and now this is happening.  I need to take a deep breath and let it go, and pray he will start eating again.  (angel)

Agree with red - start slow, probiotics - and monitor closely - might also want to get some Beef Nutridrench - it has all those lovely minerals and vitamins in it that the rumen bugs need to function - make sure he has lots of nice grassy hay and fresh water --- you also might want to call your vet and see if he (or she) thinks a shot of B12 would help...good luck

You know, I was thinking the same thing .... I hope he does not have the "Romo Curse".  My daughter  named him Romo because she thought he would be tough like Tony Romo was.... I am not sure how he is now that he is messed up with Jessica Simpson, he seems to have lost some of his toughness that he once had!!  I am thinking now might be a good time to change his name, maybe then he will start eating.  (clapping)

Well, I took "Romo" to get his hooves trimmed yesterday afternoon and when I unloaded him he went to the restroom and alot of blood came out in his (loose) stool.  Now I am really worried.... I called the vet and got him a stool sample this morning.  Just to try to get him interested in feed again, I went ahead and gave him a little bit of my horses sweet feed and he perked up and ate what I gave him last night.  I went ahead and gave him more horse feed this morning and I am going to go home for lunch and see if he cleaned it up, if he did then I will mix his steer feed tonight with some sweet feed and gradually try to get him back to where he was.  I sure hope we can get him "feeling good" again and back to the aggressive eater he was as of last week.  Have a good day!!

I'd get a manure culture & some blood work done if it was me.
Sometimes a little flaoring or something new will perk up their appiteite. Good luck!

In MVHO a steer who has stopped eating, who has bloody loose manure, who has had an elevated temp, who has been given antibiotics without much improvement and who has a history of being very sick needs to be seen by a vet.
