I would not be afraid of Powerplant. He really made them pretty.

Depends on the cow.  Power Plant will make them more tight wound so IF the cow has lots of depth and spring of rib then Power Plant, otherwise, Polleroid, especially if you need hair.

I know a lot of people knock Polleroid because of Red Alert (claims of no milk), but that heifer in my Avatar is a Polleroid daughter, now 13 years, Great Show Heifer, Great Cow, Great Milker, and still going strong.  I raised a full brother to her that produced some really nice calves, and then I traded him for 40 straws of Meyer 734 (sure wish I hadn't traded so many of them for Draftpick).  The things you can count on with Polleroid is plenty of frame, depth of body, bone mass, and great neck extension.

Paydirt will add even more frame, but with less butt!  Power Plant just won't produce any depth of body.

AAOK. That's my take too. Polleroid is definitely the rib man of the deal. My issue with Power Plant is that they can get pretty twisted in those front legs. I'd venture to guess that came from his Cunia dam. Power Plant can clean up a front end as well as any, though. Just no depth or spring of rib.

Do Polleroids tend to be correct?

Too straight is not an issue with him but they can sometimes get stiff in their pasterns.. I like some of his distant relatives. SLC Sooner goes back to Polleroid. DMCC limited Edition is his most famous son.

Everybody knocks shorthorns but the showy ones can be some of the most correct cattle there are. We bred a Cumberland-Rose_pic Perfect likre that to a "full sib" to LTD Edition-he isnt the thickest-but is probably the most atructurally correct one out of mine in near 20 years. O0
