Our kids are in the local 4H Beef club. So we are getting close to when we will pick out our son's 4H steer. Our daughter showed a baby calf this year, and she is going to show her again next year. Anyways, here is one calf that really stood out for us this spring, before he went to pasture. We haven't seen him since these pics were taken, but unless something drastic happened, he should be a darn good calf this fall. We get them back out of the Community Pasture in early October. I am kinda excited to see how he looks then.

He was born April 12 the pictures were taken June 10, he would be 2 months old.

I also attached a photo of Curly, our daughters baby calf from this year. She was born April 2 and was a twin. That photo was taken June 9 so she was right around 2 months old too.

I really like that heifer.  What is her breeding?

She's out of a commercial Red Angus/Shorthorn cow bred to an Angus/Simm bull. No special breeding.

For a two month old calf he looks good. He may not be the showiest from the pictures but looks like he would work in a slick haired show. I like his smoothness and that he toes forward on all fours.

hey randiliana whatever happened to that extremely muscled bwf heifer you posted on cattletoday awile ago?

Well, she calved out this spring, but didn't have the milk to keep her calf going. I was pretty disappointed, she was out of one of our best cows. We culled her out in April.
